POSITION PURPOSE:
This key financial reporting team member will be responsible for the preparation of financial and SEC reporting of CIM’s public funds, under the direction of the Manager or Director of Financial Reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Timely and accurately prepare, analyze the financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual SEC filings ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  • Prepare bi-weekly valuation decks using the Workiva platform.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial reporting processes through automation and system enhancements, driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize financial processes, controls, and workflows.
  • Work closely with external auditors during the annual audit process, coordinating responses to audit inquiries to ensure a smooth and efficient audit process, while also providing necessary documentation to explain and address any findings or recommendations.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders across departments, acting as a liaison between reporting and other business segments, including third-party fund administrators.
  • Coordinate with asset financial services and portfolio oversight to prepare and analyze monthly portfolio metrics (real estate) and the loan abstraction process (credit investments)
  • Actively participate in training programs and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or advanced degree a plus.
  • Professional certification such as CPA, CMA, Chartered Accountant or similar is a plus.

ABOUT YOU:

  • 4+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting or accounting or audit, or related roles. Ideally two years’ public accounting experience or three years’ combined experience in public accounting and financial reporting.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks in a detailed and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, knowledge of relational database including tables and queries.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and regulatory requirements. Experience with SEC filings under the Investment Company Act of 1940 is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
