Pay Range: $71,661- $93,159 annual compensation

A Sr. Accountant position is available with the City of Fort Worth Aviation Department Administrative Services Division.  The City of Fort Worth Aviation system is home to three world-class airports: Meacham International, Spinks and Perot Field.  Both Meacham International and Spinks Airports provide regional aviation services for air charter, corporate, business and recreational flyers.  The airports feature full-service fuelers, multiple maintenance facilities, flight schools, on-site rental car facilities, and hotel facilities only minutes away.  The City of Fort Worth Aviation Department is essential to the economic well-being and commerce taking place in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. This position will be located at Meacham International Airport. This position requires exemplary customer service skills with the ability to establish and augment effective working relationships with the upmost in transparency.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, finance or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible accounting experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of Governmental Fund Accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to research and problem-solve when dealing with financial data, and flexibility in managing a variety of assignments and deadlines.
  • Strong working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial modules, Microsoft Office Suite, and Questica budgeting system.

The Sr. Accountant job responsibilities include: 

  • Perform professional accounting activities including but not limited to preparation of financial statements and reporting, general ledger oversight, federal and state grant reporting and auditing with appropriate deadlines.
  • Perform annual budget and CIP development, forecast, and analysis.
  • Conduct problem resolution of financial management issues, closely monitor general ledger accounts, commitments and expenditures to ensure compliance with all regulatory mandates.
  • Perform project accounting functions utilizing multiple funds.
  • Oversight and entry of department Key Performance Indicators.
  • Process annual department capital assets inventory.
  • Liaison with FMS, FWLab and other CFW departments as required.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
