Spring 2025 Graduate Intern, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging

The ACLU seeks a Graduate Intern in the EDIB department of the ACLU’s National office in New York, NY.

What You’ll Do: 

The Graduate Intern will be responsible for providing administrative support, co-facilitating circles and trainings, advancing programmatic efforts, and working on designated special projects. 

Your Day to Day 

• Increase awareness of the restorative inclusion program among staff by presenting workshops on conflict resolution, restorative practices and other topics as requested 

• Facilitate restorative community building circles and wellbeing workshops 

• Administer program assessments, create a report of findings, and make program recommendations 

• Assist with EDIB program facilitation, logistical support and evaluation 

• Engage in special projects and other duties as assigned 

What You’ll Bring: 

• Be an effective listener with high emotional intelligence and a highly collaborative style

• Ability to deliver presentations to staff on topics such as combatting anti-Blackness, trauma informed practice and restorative practices

• Experience with conflict resolution, leading community building circles and meeting facilitation

• Demonstrated passion for EDIB work; deep knowledge, research, and best practices for organizations on equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging

• Openness to a multi-faceted range of viewpoints; ability to engage with tough questions in a thoughtful and respectful manner and with a trauma-informed approach
• A commitment to civil liberties, civil rights, and social and racial justice

Internship Logistics: 

• Location: Our internship program offers a limited number of remote or hybrid intern positions. This internship is hybrid from our NY National office. 

• Time Commitment: Term-time internships may be completed on a part-time basis (10, 15, or 20 hours/week) 9am - 5:00 p.m. Eastern time. Summer internships require a full-time commitment.  

• Internship Duration: Full-time internships span 10 consecutive weeks and part-time 12 weeks. 

• Stipend: A stipend is available for students who are lawfully authorized to work and do not receive compensation from other sources. Students with external funding may receive a partial stipend to bring their total funding up to the level of the ACLU’s stipend amount for that term. Arrangements can be made with educational institutions for work/study or course credit. Below are the stipend rates: 

• $20/hour for undergraduate students or equivalent experience  

• $24/hour for graduate and law students or equivalent experience
