 Position Objective
This position serves as company expert for all construction technology support and service; functioning as first point of contact for customers with technology issues.  Individual troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves customer issues; serving as liaison with Caterpillar Connected Worksite Division.  Position also serves as key component to establishing and growing Caterpillar AccuGrade Global Position Systems (GPS) technology and its associated products and markets, as well as Caterpillar Product Link (PL) technology and its associated products and markets. 
 
Essential Position Duties
 
  • Provide sales support for all GPS technology; performing survey site calibrations and setting up base stations and rover equipment in the field.
  • Troubleshoot product equipment, software and hardware in a timely manner; serving as first point of contact for any product issue or problem. This may include base stations and rovers as well as equipment located on the machine itself such as receivers, radios and GPS monitors.
  • Install GPS equipment on machines and train customers on how to install equipment on machines as well.
  • Market and sell GPS products, demonstrating product features and providing detailed information on GPS, laser reference and robotic systems functions and performance.  Answer questions and explain product benefits to customer.
  • Expand the sales of rover and base station equipment to customers outside the construction industry such as engineering surveying firms and county governments, among others.
  • Conduct product training for customers both in the classroom and in the field; developing training materials and tracking any subsequent training.  Meet training revenue goals and objectives as identified.
  • Perform demonstrations of the latest in Trimble GPS survey control equipment as well as machine control.  Demos and trains with operators on one to one basis as needed.
  • Remain on cutting edge of new product development in GPS products for the earthmoving industry including site preparation, business and site management, office management, fleet tracking and data management software(s).
 
Position Requirements
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Associates Degree in Surveying Technology or 5 minimum 5 years experience in the field of construction surveying/GPS Technology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GPS machine control technology with the ability to train others and troubleshoot both the equipment and associated software and hardware.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to discuss new technologies with customers from the management to operator levels.
  • Strong PC Skills including Accugrade Office Products, Trimble Office Products and survey data 3D design modules such as Terra Model.
  • Dedicated self starter with the ability to work independently without the need for daily direct supervision and a strong sense of urgency.
  • Strong verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills and listening skills.
  • A team player possessing the ability to professionally work with customers, vendors, peers and co-workers as well as the ability to develop strong, long term relationships.
  • Strong customer service skills and a thorough understanding of Price, Quality and Turnaround principles.
  • A thorough knowledge of construction equipment, applications and various markets.
