Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.

We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Marine Assurance Specialist. This role will support the development, execution and operations of corporate marine operations throughout VG, working closely with the LNG terminal, Commercial Operations and the Buyers.

General Description: 

The Marine Assurance Specialist is expected to add value to VG and shall provide support to Venture Global LNG (VG) staff, contractors, suppliers, and other personnel involved in the safe operation of the marine facilities at VG’s LNG export terminals. 

The successful Marine Assurance Specialist will apply their marine operations, vetting and nautical knowledge to support all aspects of VG’s marine operations including marine assurance, ship-to-shore interface, and provide support to on-site Marine Coordinators.

Reporting Lines:

  • Marine Assurance Specialist reports to the Marine Assurance Manager.

Responsibilities:

Carry out marine assurance on LNG tankers nominated to call at VG LNG terminals, including:

  • Work closely with LNG terminal marine departments
  • Knowledge and experience of marine assurance, including vetting, terminal compatibility and mooring analysis
  • Complete LNG Tanker vetting for nominated vessels, including reviewing SIRE report, Port State and USCG inspection reports etc. against VG vetting standards.
  • Have a thorough understanding of terminal compatibility and the process involved when reviewing an LNG tanker against VG terminal requirements
  • Have a thorough understanding of Optimoor, including the ability to develop berth and vessel models and databases, complete mooring analysis for nominated LNG tanker
  • Maintain LNG tanker records for all LNG tankers nominate and calling at VG terminals.
  • Help in the development of a vessel database to store records related to each vessel.
  • Work with LNG terminal marine and VG Commercial Ops team to ensure safe, efficient, reliable, cost effective and environmentally responsible cargo transfer operations
  • Provide marine and technical assistance to VG Ship Management team
  • Deliver effective, fit for purpose marine advice, support and problem solving based on best practices, reasonable care standards and due diligence models
  • Operate safely within Industry, Company, National and International standards and regulatory requirements
  • Assist in reviewing and updating VG marine operations documents

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Nautical Science or Engineering from a maritime academy or accredited university or marine school, or
  • Merchant Marine Officer Experience, Licensed – Chief Mate or 2nd Mate or 1stAssistant Engineer, or
  • Marine experience with the USCG, having knowledge of LNG tankers, COC inspections, LNG terminal inspections etc.

 

Experience: 

  • Experience in vetting, terminal compatibility and mooring analysis
  • SIRE accreditation is not essential but would be an advantage
  • Experience in sea and shore side experience terminal experience
  • Working on LNG tanker, LPG and oil tankers (preferred)
  • Knowledge of LNG tankers and terminal, as well as experience dealing with LNG tanker operations

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization 
  • Organized, planning skills, able to manage multiple activities and programs in timely fashion and with a high degree of accuracy, able to meet work deadlines.  
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.  
  • Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card

 Work Conditions:

  • Job is performed in an office and industrial plant environment. 
  • National travel can be expected.
  • Must be able to board a ship via a gangway, climb to the top of a tank (200+ steps), scale vertical steel ladder up to forty feet or more in height and lift and move objects weighting up to 30 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors & outdoors, and be exposed to year-around weather conditions, ocean environment, and noise. There is a considerable amount of outdoor activities involved.
