The Okta Japan Solutions Engineering Team

The Okta Japan Solutions Engineering team is involved in pre-sales stages with the customers and are experienced using presentations, email, phone and social media to connect with customers. We are looking for great teammates that can build sales presentations, product demonstrations, execute Proof of Concepts and Workshops to educate customers (everyone from developers to product managers to C-level executives) on the best ways to cloud security technology. 

 

The Solutions Engineer Opportunity

Reporting to the Sr Manager, Solutions Engineering, this role will advise a diverse set of customers on what is possible using Okta’s Identity Platform and help drive customer success utilizing both technical savviness and business insight.

 

What you’ll be doing 

  • Participating in meetings with prospective customers along with Account Executives to dive into their identity management challenges and communicate the benefits of implementing the solutions.
  • Gaining the trust of customers who may not be familiar with Okta's products or identity technology by providing easy-to-understand answers to their questions, while accurately answering questions from those who are familiar with the technology.
  • Delivering interactive presentations and product demonstrations to show how Okta's identity solutions can solve customers' challenges.
  • Assisting customers in executing their PoC and making it technically clear that implementing Okta's identity solutions will bring value to their customers.
  • Occasionally participating in online or offline events evangelizing Okta as a presenter and attendee.

 

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Experience working with customers as a pre-sales SE or technical sales representative.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong rapport with customers' technical staff and leadership throughout the sales process
  • Native level Japanese with excellent communication and reading skills.
  • Ability to ask questions and express opinions in English via Slack or at 1:1 meetings.
  • Those who take pleasure in leading the industry and spreading solutions that contribute to society.
  • Enjoy working with Okta's growing partner communities in Japan and collaborating with pre-sales engineers around the world.
  • Those who are looking to enhance their pre-sales skills as well as product knowledge and authentication technology knowledge to become the best solution engineer possible.

 

And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following! 

  • Pre-sales experience in an organization using SPIN, solution selling, MEDDICC or other sales methodologies
  • Experience in Identity & Access Management, single sign-on, security, and API-based solutions
  • Experience in at least one standard network security protocol (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, LDAP, etc.)
  • Practical experience in one or more of ; Web development (JavaScript, HTML, front-end frameworks), mobile development (iOS, Android), back-end development (Java, C#, Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby), IP-based real-time communications.
  • Understanding of core security in general applications (password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, XSRF)
  • Experience as software developer 
  • Experience in system consulting
  • Experience in speaking at technical conferences and/or webinars and writing technical blogs
  • Experience communicating and working with overseas engineers in English
