Who You’ll Work With
You will be part of the enterprise and cloud-managed WiFi Systest Team in Pune.
What You’ll Do
As a test engineer, you serve as the first customer of our products. You will ensure that the bugs that escape autonomous testing, implemented by the development team, are caught before the product is made available to our customers. This means that you will:
- Focus your testing efforts on those hard-to-find bugs in the product that the autonomous testing framework could not or cannot cover; and
- Challenge your imagination and skills to come up with creative ways to “break the product” in real customer scenarios instead of wasting time on manual regression testing of basic functionality.
- Able to work successfully in a fast-paced environment, including with multiple platforms and architectures, diverse technologies, and cloud environments.
- Understand the Arista WiFi cloud architecture, its components, and related products.
- Work with software development, test engineers and field support engineers to gather technical requirements, participate in functional specification and software design reviews, and validate that the product meets our customers’ requirements.
- Write test plans, including the design of test network topologies and methodologies, to verify the product features you will test.
- “Own” the feature and product, and be the single point of contact and testing expert for your deliverables.
- Execute the test plan and report bugs found during the testing. Your bug reports should include a detailed description of the conditions under which a bug manifests and how it can be reproduced, the resulting product behavior, and the extent of its impact on our customers. Logs and traces, wherever relevant, are mandatory to be provided.
- Identify opportunities and develop tools to automate testing procedures that can make the software testing team more efficient and productive.
- Participate in test plan reviews of other features and products, and provide feedback to your team members, and in turn enhance your knowledge about other features or products.
- Work with customer support and systems engineering teams to help address escalated customer issues by reproducing and debugging them in the lab.
- Present the feature(s) to the TAC team during training sessions.
- Bachelor’s degree in E&TC/EE/CE/CS/IT or a related field; Master’s degree a plus.
- 2 - 8 years of experience in testing & troubleshooting Cloud technologies, virtualization, Microservices and debugging complex software; experience with wired or wireless networks a plus.
- Good experience in working with Hadoop & Big data technologies like HDFS, HBase, Spark, Kafka streaming and Elasticsearch
- Good working knowledge of Database (SQL) and Server side validations.
- Experience with types of performance testing (Load test, Stress test and capacity test) will be a plus.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems fundamentals around scalability, elasticity, availability, fault-tolerance.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills, and proven expertise in creating test methodologies and writing test plans.
- Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals across the OSI stack is a must.
- Strong knowledge with Linux systems and networking tools.
- Basic knowledge of AWS, GCP and Kubernetes
- Basic knowledge of RESTful APIs, JSON, and SQL.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python will be a plus.
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
