At R3, you will be a Software Engineering Manager with a product mindset, building platforms for today’s world financial system. You’ll be part of our multidisciplinary engineering team, where you will build end to end deployable distributed services, and work closely with engineers at all levels, other Principal Engineers, Product managers, Solutions Architects, and Application Engineers. This is an opportunity to lead a new team created locally to support the delivery of new features and enhancements.
You will be responsible for delivering substantial enhancements as well as orchestrating maintenance of our Corda platform, that underpins diverse customer solutions. Corda is a DLT designed for running complex workflows between businesses, without any centralized points of control. You will work on a blockchain/DLT platform trusted by banks, insurance companies, stock exchanges, payments companies, and others – highly demanding industries with the interesting technical challenges that come with them, as we take these customers to the next level of performance, availability and manageability. We aim to have a fast, agile and automated product engineering philosophy that will provide safe and secure experience to our users.
Responsibilities:
- Partnering with engineering and product leaders to shape team roadmaps for execution using suitable agile methodologies.
- Supporting your team to deliver the roadmaps effectively while working collaboratively with Engineering Managers , Product Managers and Principal engineers to drive impactful initiatives.
- Own the delivery of key milestones in your domain, set clear goals and objectives, monitor progress, and proactively address any obstacles or bottlenecks.
- Line manage your team, and ensure engineers have the support and guidance needed to grow their career at R3
- Ensure your team is setup for success and embodies the R3 operating priniciples.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
- Drive hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members to strengthen team skills and cohesion.
- Foster a mindset of continuous improvement in your teams engineering processes, methodologies, and tools for optimal productivity and collaboration.
- Act as the main point of contact for cross-functional teams, effectively communicating project status, risks, and achievements.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to lead Engineering teams that deliver high impact.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
- Solid track record of delivering scalable products in partnership with Engineering and Product leadership.
- Hands-on experience with agile methodologies and project management tools.
- Experience developing and supporting a team of engineers in their personal growth and career progression.

Nice to haves:
- You can design and develop enterprise-level software. We develop in Java and Kotlin, plus utilise cloud technologies, such as AWS; although these are not mandatory to have, you may be interested in working with these technologies.
- You have worked in domains where high-availability and performance matters.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts & Kubernetes networking
- Familiarity with message brokers and relational databases
- Experience supporting issues in production, either for customers or through running and operating software yourself.
- Corda knowledge / experience, or another DLT
