About the role
- This role will be part of a team that develops software that runs on over 100k computers worldwide, measuring panelists activities as they surf the Internet. Using a software meter that is optimized to be unintrusive to the user, yet able to gather many biometric data points and send them back to a collection system that runs in the Cloud.
- The Test Automation Engineer is responsible for identifying candidate test cases, then automating those tests to run across several different client-side environments: Windows, Mac and multiple Browsers. It is expected to work with multiple delocalized project teams in multiple regions. As the Test Automation Engineer you will participate in the development efforts for our industry leading client-side meters. Your role will involve implementing, and maintaining an extensive functional regression test suite that exercises multiple Browsers (Chrome, Edge, FireFox) and Client-side executables, and then directly accessing backend databases to verify data quality. You will play a key role in shaping the technical direction of our projects.
Responsiblities
- Test Suite Deployment:
- Build new test cases in the existing regression test suite, while also refactoring the test automation framework.
- Data Verification:
- Develop SQL queries to extract data from a backend database, and perform data reconciliation with Client-side input to ensure the Meter under test is performing as expected.
- Code Quality and Best Practices:
- Adhere to coding standards, best practices, and design principles.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain high code quality.
- Performance Optimization:
- Assist in the Identification of performance bottlenecks in both client-side and data upload components.
- Team Collaboration:
- Follow best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a cohesive and unified approach to software development.
- Security and Compliance:
- Assist in testing the Meter under test to ensure compliance with industry and company standards to application security.
Key skills
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience, minimum 2 years, in Client-side development expertise using scripting languages such as Python, and test frameworks such as Selenium
- Database query experience with JDBC/ODBC and SQL
- Prometheus & Grafana a plus
- Good understanding of CI/CD principles and tools. GitLab a plus
- Good problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Good communication and collaboration skills with ability to communicate technical concepts
- Utilizes team collaboration to contribute to innovative solutions efficiently
