Software Engineer - Security Platform

The team

SEEK’s Cyber Security team is multi-disciplinary team with a wide variety of security skills and responsibilities across a broad range of areas. While we do have separate security sub-teams, we have adopted a focus on multi-functional security expertise development, allowing team members to continue to grow professional expertise proficiency in a wide range of security concentrations.

The team is positioned well within the company to implement quickly and against things that matter. Team members are empowered to identify security control gaps or risks within the organisation and work toward effective mitigation. We have executive support, and you will have the ability to influence the security posture of our infrastructure and products helping progress SEEK’s purpose of helping people live more fulfilling and productive working lives and helping organisations succeed.

About the role

You will play a key role in building and operating security platforms and tools to improve the services and capabilities offered by the SEEK Security team and uplift the overall security posture of SEEK.

In addition to building software, you will also work with security engineering to implement technical security controls (e.g. mitigations, detection, auto-remediations, guidance, education, etc), with the opportunity to have a material impact on how we implement security controls within SEEK.

We are looking for curious engineers with an interest in Cyber Security, with a passion for writing high-quality code using modern software philosophies and practices.

Responsibilities

Your day to day will include:

• Delivering technical implementation of the Vulnerability Management Platform and other related tools
• Working with engineering teams to elicit their feedback and drive improvements in tools offered by the security team
• Working with other partners in the security team to find opportunities for improvements through software development
• Gain valuable insights and skills in the realm of Cyber Security

Additional Opportunities:

• Participate in security reviews of key systems and assets and report findings to partners e.g. Threat Modelling, Rapid Security Reviews
• Participate with other areas of the Security team, to drive Security uplift initiatives across the organisation e.g. Pen-testing
• Security incidents and investigations

Essential Skills and Experience

• Experience with Python or has created and maintained software in two or more modern software development languages
• Experience with the design, development, support, and maintenance of cloud first (AWS) applications
• Experience working with APIs
• Demonstrated experience consistently writing well-tested, readable software, using secure coding practices, current patterns, and tooling
• Experience applying and improving continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices
• Strong experience with Design Patterns and Data Modelling
• Proven experience in Test-Driven Development, Behavioural-Driven Development and Clean Code
• Uses data to support decision making
