Zoox is looking for software engineers to help us build novel architectures for classifying and understanding the complex and dynamic environments in our cities. In this role, you will have access to the best sensor data in the world and an incredible infrastructure for testing, validating, and deploying your algorithms.
Our Prediction team’s role is to provide a probabilistic representation of the future state of the world; in particular, understanding what other vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists will do next. We leverage both high quality sensor data and high level semantic information to produce data-driven models of the future. This representation is tightly integrated into our planning software to deliver a safe and smooth customer experience.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and apply distributed compute algorithms to efficiently analyze petabytes of urban driving data
- Develop the core metrics that measures performance for our ML models
- Work closely with ML engineers to develop backend metrics and frontend tools for analyzing errors and understanding improvements in our systems
- Collaborate with engineers on Perception, Planning, and Simulation to solve the overall Autonomous Driving problem in complex urban environments
Qualifications
- BS, MS, or PhD degree in computer science or related field
- Experience with training and deploying Deep Learning models
- Experience with production Machine Learning pipelines: dataset creation, training frameworks, metrics pipelines
- Fluency in C++ or Fluency in Python with a basic understanding of C++
- Extensive experience with programming and algorithm design-Strong mathematics skills

- Ability to create functional real-time systems that solve difficult prediction tasks
- Experience handling large data sets efficiently
- Strong mathematical skills and understanding of probabilistic techniques

Compensation
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary will range from $144,000 to $234,000. A sign-on bonus may be part of a compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
