From organising AI research to optimising internal operations, tools we build make Google DeepMind more efficient & effective. No machine learning experience is required for this role.

About Us

Artificial Intelligence could be one of humanity’s most useful inventions. At Google DeepMind, we’re a team of scientists, engineers, machine learning experts and more, working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges, ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority.

The Org Tech team builds internal technical solutions that create the organisational culture and operational efficiency needed to advance GDM's mission. We ensure GDM teams have the right tools to enable progress at pace. These solutions can be custom-built software systems, third-party tool integrations, data pipelines, process changes, or usually a combination of these. We are a team of ~10 SWEs who work closely with company leadership and act as a force-multiplier for the org by ensuring that leaders & teams across Google DeepMind have efficient, effective tools to perform their key tasks & the right data to facilitate key decisions.

Our team is part of the GDM Technical Operations & Analytics team. Tech Ops & Analytics combines engineering skills with portfolio management, compute planning, and data analytics to organise, evaluate, and accelerate the delivery of GDM’s mission. We are a core group of ~50 people with diverse skills and backgrounds, working with many teams and leaders across the company to create and nurture an environment suited for state-of-the-art research and innovative product development. We prioritise projects with broad & strategic impact across Google DeepMind, while also providing focused capabilities to accelerate key efforts.

The Role

As a member of the Org Tech team, you’ll work alongside experienced SWEs on tools that will make a material impact on the workflows of your colleagues. Your users will be other Google DeepMinders, so you’ll get to work closely with helpful, motivated collaborators who will give you immediate feedback and help you iterate rapidly. This role is a fixed term 9 month contract.

  • A first-party performance management & promotion application tool, custom built for the organisation’s specific needs, and used by 100% of the company.
  • Integrating third-party tools into GDM’s tech ecosystem via APIs & data pipelines.
  • Building infrastructure to improve the management of GDM’s public website.
