Software Engineer Internship - Gradio

Here at Hugging Face, we’re on a journey to advance good Machine Learning and make it more accessible. Along the way, we contribute to the development of software for the better.

We have built the fastest-growing, open-source collection of pre-trained models, datasets, and demos backed by open-source libraries which have 100M+ installs and collectively 100K+ stars on GitHub.

About the Role

Gradio is the most widely used library to build machine learning demos, with around 150k monthly active developers using it to build demos and ML applications. It is maintained by the Gradio team within Hugging Face. The main objective for a Gradio intern will be to contribute to the library, grow the community of developers, and support outreach efforts. Gradio is evolving from a library to an ecosystem for machine learning developers, with custom components contributed from our community. To advance these efforts and as Gradio's usage and developer community grows, it's important for our team to foster a healthy and involved community of developers that feel supported and encouraged to contribute to Gradio. The tasks this project would include are (but not limited to):

• building creative machine learning demos utilizing the latest and greatest ML models and custom components
• replying and solving backend and/or frontend issues in the core Gradio library
• contributing to backend and/or frontend of the Gradio library
• supporting our developers in our discord
• developing custom components that serve a niche for our developers

About You

You are someone who stays up to date with the latest machine learning trends and models. You have a passion for building and scaling a developer community and contributing to open source projects.

Some of our requirements for this role :

- Currently pursuing a BS, MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning/AI, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience

- Proficiency in python and/or javascript

- Problem-solving and good communication skills

- Bonus: Svelte experience

- Bonus: Involved in other developer communities
