The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Software Engineer I - Payables to contribute to the development and enhancement of Flywire’s payables platform, ensuring seamless, automated, and secure payment processing. This role will focus on building scalable financial transaction workflows, integrating payment networks, and optimizing reconciliation processes. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in software engineering, an eagerness to learn, and a passion for fintech innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, and maintain payment processing solutions that support Flywire’s global payables operations.
- Build and optimize APIs and integrations with financial institutions, banking systems, and third-party payment providers.
- Work collaboratively with product managers, finance teams, and senior engineers to design payment workflow enhancements.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, adhering to industry best practices.
- Investigate and resolve payment processing issues, ensuring accuracy and reliability in financial transactions.
- Contribute to the automation of financial reconciliation, reporting, and fraud detection tools.
- Stay up to date with payment technology trends, compliance requirements, and security best practices in financial software development.
What We Are Looking For:
We are looking for a junior software engineer with a passion for backend development, payment processing systems, and financial technology.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of experience in software development, preferably in fintech, payments, or financial services.
- Proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Python, Java, JavaScript (Node.js), or Go.
- Basic understanding of financial transaction processing, accounting principles, and API-based payments.
- Experience working with databases (SQL and NoSQL) and writing optimized queries.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to debug and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a remote-first, fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
