Software Engineer, Full Stack

About the Team:

Labs is an internal team at Valor that builds software to support the Firm’s investment process. It comprises software, data, and machine learning engineers as well as data scientists with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience. The team’s mission is to build cutting edge software applications and data models that generate proprietary investment insights and provide the investment team with tools that augment the investment decision making process.

About the Role:

• You will build responsive web applications using React Hooks and Material UI in a Progressive Web Application (PWA)
• You will build and maintain modern REST APIs
• You will closely collaborate with stakeholders to help build valuable products and features that support the Firm’s business processes

• You will help shape the future of software engineering at Valor by bringing your ideas on improving and automating what we do and how we do it

We’re excited about candidates that have:

• B.S. and/or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

• 4+ years of software development experience, with significant contributions that you can talk to
• Exceptional coding skills in Javascript
• Exceptional coding skills in Python
• Additional skills in Flask, Django or FastAPI are good to have
• Experience with React (including Hooks and Context) or similar front-end framework
• Highly proficient in SQL, with working knowledge of multiple database types
• Experience with designing SQL schemas and working with an ORM
• Experience with modern cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure)

Additionally, experience with any of the following is a bonus: 

• Modern ETL tools (Prefect, Airflow, Kafka, Spark, PySpark or similar)
• Elastic Search
• DevOps

Note: This role is required to be in office three days a week
