Software Engineer - Cloud

Ambient.ai is a computer vision intelligence company transforming security operations for large enterprises by preventing security incidents before they happen. We were founded in 2017 by Shikhar Shrestha and Vikesh Khanna. They are experts in artificial intelligence from Stanford University who previously built iconic products at Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Dropbox. Working closely with Kiran Palan and Vikesh Khanna as a Backend Product Engineer, you will help build the product backend for one of the most promising products for the physical security industry. You will have the opportunity to participate and lead on multiple fronts from design sprints and customer conversations to building the services for a rapidly scaling product. The work spans from building new experiences for our users from the ground up as well as improving on existing ones.

 

• Implement REST and GraphQL APIs for clients
• Design and implement highly available and fault-tolerant micro-services
• Design highly scalable databases, real-time streaming pipelines, and massive data indexing systems
• Data infrastructure for collecting and managing large volumes of video data
• Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of all backend services

The amazing skills you'll bring to Ambient.ai:

• BS/MS in Computer Science or related field with a strong programming background
• At least 3 years of experience building highly scalable and available web services
• Deep expertise in REST APIs, general web backend design principles, relational databases (MySQL / Postgres), streaming pipelines, pub-sub systems, and indexing systems
• Strong experience with Unix-like systems (bash scripting and tools)
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient algorithms using proper data structures
• Design and implement complex systems including communication between several services (pub-sub paradigm, micro-services architecture)
• Manage service reliability, including any DevOps work (AWS, Google Cloud)

We take a market-based approach to pay here at Ambient.ai, and pay may vary depending on multiple factors. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, level, market conditions, and internal parity. 

Base salary is just one component of our total rewards package. As a fast-growing start-up, our regular employees are also granted stock options, and an opportunity to succeed when Ambient.ai succeeds.  As a young start-up with product market fit, our stock upside is substantial, and a large part of our total rewards strategy. 

The pay scale below represents the starting base salary range we expect to pay for this position, and is subject to change*: 

SF Bay Area:  $125,000 - $175,000

*From time to time, we may decide to make an offer to a candidate that is either leveled below or above this role based on skills, experience, and interview performance.
