Team
The YugabyteDB Aeon SDET team is dedicated to ensuring the highest quality for the Aeon control plane. YugabyteDB Aeon is a fully managed YugabyteDB-as-a-Service that allows you to run YugabyteDB clusters on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). As the gatekeepers for delivering high-quality products, the team focuses on fast-paced, time-critical features. We ensure that each feature meets our quality standards, is delivered on time, and integrates smoothly into the release process.
Role
As an SDET for the YugabyteDB Aeon team, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality products for our fully managed YugabyteDB-as-a-Service. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases to ensure the robustness and reliability of the Aeon. Create, maintain, and enhance automated test scripts and frameworks to streamline the testing process and improve efficiency. Work closely with software developers and other stakeholders to understand requirements, identify potential quality issues early, and ensure timely resolution of defects.
To thrive in this role, you should have strong experience in designing and implementing automated test frameworks both API and User Interface, a deep understanding of performance methodologies, and excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with developers and other stakeholders. Attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential to maintaining the high quality of our features and releases.
Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive test plans and cases for features and functionalities in the Aeon cloud control plane to ensure robustness and reliability.
- Create and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks to streamline the testing process and improve efficiency.
- Work closely with software developers and other stakeholders to understand requirements and identify potential quality issues early in the development cycle.
- Assess the performance and scalability of the system to ensure it can handle high loads and maintain performance under various conditions.
- Detect, document, and track software defects and work with the development team to ensure timely resolution.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance overall quality and efficiency.
- Assist in the release process by ensuring that all features meet quality standards and are ready for deployment.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest testing technologies and methodologies to apply best practices in the field.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python, Java, and UI automation tools, with experience in developing and maintaining automation frameworks and test scripts. Exposure to Cypress automation tools is a plus.
- Proven expertise in writing and maintaining clean, efficient, and reusable code is essential.
- Working knowledge of SQL and/or CQL, and professional experience with databases and/or distributed systems. Familiarity with YugabyteDB or similar distributed databases is a plus.
- Understanding of performance testing methodologies to ensure the system can handle high loads and maintain performance under various conditions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with geographically distributed teams, understand requirements, and resolve defects.
- A passion for delivering high-quality products, prioritising user experience, and striving to exceed customer expectations.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Willingness to take on new challenges, think creatively, and contribute to the team’s success in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- 5-8 years of relevant work experience, with a BS in Computer Science or an equivalent technical degree.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working in a continuous integration/continuous delivery development environment.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
