About the role
We are looking for a Software Developer to join our Informatics team in Alderley Park, Cheshire. You will be given the opportunity to design and develop applications written in Python and Javascript, so experience in these areas is crucial. You will also be given the chance to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions for data analysis and workflow optimisation.
The opportunity:
- Design, develop and support applications written in Python and Javascript. Build on existing in-house software whilst also seeking opportunities to automate existing workflows.
- Design, implement, and manage applications deployed to Microsoft Azure.
- Build and enhance user interfaces with frontend frameworks such as React.
- Manage and optimise databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including scientists to deliver high-quality software solutions for analysing data or optimising workflows.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and methodologies, using tools such as Bitbucket and Jira to work collaboratively and taking an active interest in new technologies.
- You must be comfortable taking on significant technical problems and be able to demonstrate creativity in solving them. This role would suit a self-starter, confident in your own technical abilities
- Ability to plan and see projects through to finish.
Key requirements:
- Proficiency in Python: Experience developing robust and scalable web applications using frameworks such as Django, Flask or FastAPI.
- Microsoft Azure: Hands-on experience with cloud services and infrastructure, preferably Azure although similar experience considered.
- Frontend Frameworks: Experience with designing and building user interfaces in a modern Javascript framework such as React or Vue.
- Databases: Knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including designing and building databases and writing complex queries to extract data.
- Experience with scientific software such as Dotmatics is advantageous.
- Exposure to drug discovery in a commercial CRO environment and/or a life sciences background would be advantageous.
- Experience in developing LIMS systems would be beneficial in addition to working with LC-MS/MS data outputs.
