JOB SUMMARY 

The Social Expert & Community Manager will be the driving force behind Code.org's social media presence and online community engagement. This role requires a dynamic, creative individual with a deep understanding of social media strategies and a passion for building and nurturing online communities. The ideal candidate will enhance Code.org's brand visibility, engage with diverse audiences, and support our mission through innovative social media content and community initiatives. This person will manage the Event Coordinator.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media Strategy:

  • In partnership with the Sr. Director of Media, design a comprehensive social media framework that outlines the specific role, objectives, and content strategy for each platform, ensuring a cohesive and targeted approach to engagement, messaging, and audience growth. This framework will guide content creation, platform selection, and strategic initiatives, aligning with overall marketing goals and the organization's mission.
  • Support the development and implementation of comprehensive social media strategies to increase engagement, raise brand awareness, and support organizational goals across multiple platforms.
  • Develop and execute strategic social media plans for executives to amplify their online presence, aligning with organizational goals. This involves crafting personalized content, managing executive profiles across platforms, and leveraging opportunities for thought leadership, engagement, and visibility to enhance the brand's reputation and reach.
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with key social media platforms, leveraging these partnerships to gain insights on algorithm changes, access new features early, and negotiate opportunities for enhanced visibility and engagement for the organization's content.

Community Engagement:

  • Foster a vibrant, supportive online community by proactively engaging with users, moderating discussions, and providing a responsive and positive presence.
  • Oversee the event execution team, ensuring all events align with our mission and enhance our objectives and maximizing content capture opportunities.

Content Creation:

  • In partnership with the creative team, craft compelling, high-quality content tailored to each social media platform, aligning with Code.org’s mission, values, and branding.

Influencer Collaboration:

  • Identify and collaborate with influencers, advocates, and key stakeholders to extend reach and impact of Code.org’s initiatives.

Analytics and Reporting:

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on social media performance metrics, leveraging insights to optimize strategies and demonstrate ROI.
  • Actively solicit and analyze community feedback to gain valuable insights into audience needs and preferences, using this information to inform content development, improve user experience, and guide organizational initiatives.

Crisis Management:

  • Manage and respond to social media crises or negative comments in a timely, professional manner to maintain a positive community environment.

Trend Monitoring:

  • Stay abreast of the latest social media trends, tools, and technologies, adapting strategies to maintain relevance and engagement.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

We seek candidates who have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in marketing with a focus on social media management and community engagement.
  • Proven track record of growing and managing online communities.
  • Strong understanding of social media analytics and reporting tools.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

We prefer candidates who also have:

  • Experience in educational technology or nonprofit sectors.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a passion for storytelling.

In addition, candidates must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Pass a pre-employment background check
  • Be willing to travel a minimum of two times per year for team events 

 

WHAT IS THE INTERVIEW PROCESS LIKE?

Step 1: Informational Interview - learn more about the role and share your experience (30 minutes)
Step 2: Homework (~3 hours)
Step 3: Interviews with several members of the Code.org team (~ 3 hours)
Step 4: Final Interview (1 hour)
Step 5: Reference Checks 

All interviews are currently being conducted virtually via Zoom

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS PACKAGE

The expected salary range for this position is $91,000 - $102,000. The actual offer will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by relevant business considerations, including the final candidate’s qualifications, years of experience, and skillset.
