Snow Bowl Ski Patrol (AY 24-25 900167)

This position falls within Level C on the student wage scale.

Responsibilities:
- Respond to medical and rescue emergencies at The Middlebury Snowbowl and Rikert Outdoor Center
- Transport and provide EMS care to injured staff and patrons.
- Act as "Mountain Ambassador" for patrons.
- Assists Ski Patrol Director as needed.
- Work cross-departmentally with Mountain Operations Dept., Race Dept., Lift Operations and Snow School as needed under the direction/supervision of Ski Patrol Director, examples: lift ramp maintenance, snow shoveling, race net maintenance, snow making equipment staging.

- Team member of chairlift rope evacuation team.
- Be on time and prepared for all work duties, training scenarios, and response incidents.

Requirements

Experience:

  • Must have experience and training relevant to the listed responsibilities.
  • Must be able to work in the outdoors and efficiently manage self-care for hours in an exposed alpine environment.


Knowledge/Skills:

  • Must have be have valid Nation Ski Patrol membership
  • Must be a student at Middlebury College
  • Must be active member of the Middlebury Ski Patrol
  • Must have valid CPR and Outdoor Emergency Care credential.
  • Must have the skill of advanced skier or snowboarder.
  • Must be physically fit and be able to hike several miles in the mountains.
  • Trained in high angle and toboggan rescue.


Other:

  • Team player attitude required and ability to work with a variety of personalities.
  • Must take direction well from supervisors.
  • Emergency Medical Technician credential a plus but not required.
  • Self motivated personality a plus.
  • Experience in Snowmobile operation a plus.

Student Employment Eligibility:

Unless restricted by certain visa status, all students with an active status for the semester are eligible for jobs on campus.

Students on leave or withdrawn are not eligible to work in student employment positions until the semester in which they return. If you are currently withdrawn or on leave you are eligible to be employed in staff positions.

Some may be restricted due to financial aid status. International students (non-resident aliens) may not work off campus unless they have applied for and received work authorization from the United States government. (An F-1 visa does not give work authorization.) Off campus work study positions are available only to U.S. citizens on financial aid with a federal work study component.

Student are not eligible to work remotely from International locations.


Hour Limitations:

All student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours per week in on campus jobs during the academic year (this includes exam periods). The only exception is when there is a full week when school is not in session. Specifically: February recess, Spring recess, and full weeks of December or summer recess. During these time periods only, students can work up to 40 hours per week. International Students: Visa restrictions prohibit international students from exceeding 20 hours of work per academic calendar week.
