The Slaughter Hall Trainer will be responsible for delivering all line training for all Slaughter Hall employees at our food production facility in Bodmin. You will work closely with the senior trainer and the department manager to identify training needs and then design programs to address those needs. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator who can work well with diverse groups of people. Previous Slaughter Hall experience is essential.

You will have a start time of 06:30 until finish, this is usually Monday to Friday, but flexibility is needed.

Salary of £35,000.00 - £38,000.00 depending on experience

Responsibilities

  • Conduct departmental induction for all Slaughter Operative new starts including PPE requirements, knife safety requirements, quality standards, department SOP and customer specification familiarisation and compliance
  • Monitor, develop and encourage compliance to PPE requirements, knife safety requirements, quality standards, department SOP’s and customer specifications for all current Slaughter line Operatives
  • Maintain exceptional understanding and knowledge of customer specifications and yields
  • Along with Supervisors, roll out specification changes or new requirements to all Slaughter line Operatives ensuring full understanding and compliance
  • Assist Manager and Supervisors in managing daily production targets and suggesting resourcing solutions
  • Perform slaughter and finishing tasks at line speed
  • Participate fully in Lean Manufacturing processes and embrace new methods of working
  • Completing assigned tasks in a timely manner to meet daily yield targets
  • Ensure product is of the highest standard, reporting any issues to the Manager immediately
  • Familiar with daily production plan, working with team to set up line, completing relevant checks and ensuring materials are ready to use
  • Perform all prestart, hygiene and safety checks as required
  • Complying with quality specifications and understanding yield values
  • Complying with Company’s knife and health and safety rules, including hygiene requirements
  • Report all breakages, damages or defaults of equipment immediately to Manager, only using equipment when safe to do so
  • Identifying and/or reporting any accidents or near misses, assisting with investigations as instructed/necessary
  • Minimising and reporting of waste appropriately
  • Finishing products to the required specifications
  • Maintaining and securely storing tools and equipment
  • Report any risks or any evidence of unsafe or out of specification product, equipment, packaging or raw materials, to a designated manager to enable the resolution of issues requiring immediate action
  • Actively participate in all required company training
  • Assist Manager and Supervisors in identifying performance issues
  • Assist Managers and Supervisors in identifying talent and high performers, including succession planning

Requirements

  • Exceptional competence and significant experience in Slaughter and knife skills essential
  • Meticulous attention to detail essential
  • Extensive understanding of Company’s SOP’s and customer specifications
  • Previous experience working in a high-volume meat processing factory essential
  • Able to work in chilled environment
  • Flexibility to meet daily production targets
  • Ability to multitask and work under own initiative to deliver to deadlines
  • Adaptable to change and production demands
  • Ability to work effectively and confidently under pressure
  • Problem solving skills, lateral thinker
  • Communicate well in written and oral form with multi-nationals on all levels
