OVERVIEW:
The People & Places Employment Counsel is a role to work from our Singapore office in accordance with our Hybrid Schedule. The candidate should be someone licensed to practice law in Singapore, well-versed in labour and employment law in Singapore, willing to develop experience advising on labor and employment in Manila, Philippines quickly, willing to develop unique global in-house acumen and skills for a multicultural and global company. Prior experience practicing law or advising on labor and employment in Manila is a plus. The People & Places Employment Counsel will be primarily responsible for providing labour and employment advice specific to Sportradar’s offices in the Philippines and Singapore. Further, the People & Places Employment Counsel will report to the People & Places Vice President and support People & Places Vice President on global employment related training, projects, and initiatives to enable achievement of company objectives while protecting the legal interests of the company globally.
THE CHALLENGE:
- With particular focus in Philippines and Singapore labor and employment law:
- Counsel on a broad range of People (HR) programs, policies and practices specific to Philippines and/or Singapore, including performance management, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, wage and hour, and workplace safety.
- Provide counsel to address compliance, employee issues, internal investigations, audits, pre-dispute conflicts, employment law claims, arbitrations and labour matters.
- Develop templates for and train People team on employment contracts, separation agreements and other employment documentation; draft and manage documentation for complex issues
- Support M&A activity on labor and employment, including employment due diligence and integration
- Support Group Counsel People & Places in defending, supervising and managing employment related claims and litigation, including managing outside counsel, responding to administrative charges, complaints, attorney's letters, settlement demands, discovery, and claims globally
- Lead and collaborate with cross-functional on projects
- Provide training to People team and leadership, as needed
YOUR PROFILE:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience practicing labor and employment law in either Philippines or Singapore is a must.
- Previous experience in employee relations issues and investigations is required.
- Juris Doctor or legal degree equivalent with active authorization to practice as an in-house attorney in at least Philippines or Singapore.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Philippines or Singapore employment laws and regulations and experience preparing responses to charges and complaints and investigating and addressing employment complaints.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently manage outside employment counsel.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and strong stakeholder management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is a must.
- Verbal and written communication skills in Filipino is a plus.
- Familiarity with compensation issues would be a plus.
- Experience practicing labor and employment law in Manila would be a plus.
