Summary/Objective

The candidate will be part of a dynamic design team that is responsible for signal integration, verification and characterization in connector design. To utilize techniques in EM (Electromagnetic) and Circuit model generation, simulation, and validation for correlating connector measurements versus 3D full-wave simulation, affecting a signal integrity driven design for product development. While working as a member of a cross functional team, the candidate must optimize system level performance in areas of High-speed channel. This person will work collaboratively with measurement, layout, and mechanical teams to ensure new design rules, manufacturing processes and material has no impact to yields.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities.

  1. The SI Engineer simulates & optimizes electrical models of connectors & cable assemblies working with mechanical design team, layout team and RF team to understand constraints from mechanical/material point of view and sort out the design to meet specifications.
  2. Documentations, reports, verbal, and written communications in English with internal/external customer.
  3. Self-manage projects with keeping track of multiple projects at a time and logging corresponding progress and findings.
  4. Defining and solving problems with systematic approach.
  5. The SI engineer will be expected to utilize many different technologies used at Samtec. These may include but are not limited to the following:
    • Signal Integrity Fundamentals, (Deep learning wide range of topics)
    • Frequency and Time domain testing
    • Proper Equipment use (VNA,TDR)
    • Post Processing Tools (MATLAB,EXCEL,Internal Tools)
    • FEM & 3D Field solvers (ANSYS Electromagnetic Suite, ADS)
    • Product Knowledge, Prints, Reports, Collateral
    • Application Engineering, Customer Engagement.
    • New Product Development.

Required Experience

Qualified candidate must have 3 years or above of recent Signal Integrity experience with the following is preferred:

  1. Must be able to operate CST/ HFSS/ ADS with proper understand limitations of these software.
  2. Must have knowledge of EM/RF/Transmission line/VNA measurement.
  3. Must be able to communicate proficiently in English. Both written and verbal.
  4. Basic Microsoft tool (Outlook, Word, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, etc.)
  5. Communication skills are a must as this person will interact with engineers in different disciplines as well as with members of management. Fluency in Japanese and proficiency in English are required with a strong preference, for example TOEIC 800, TOEFL 80, or Eiken grade pre-1.

Preferred Education

  1. Electrical engineering degree or equivalent, Master’s degree in relevant field preferred.
