We are looking for a Short -Term Assignment Respiratory Therapist to provide professional respiratory therapy services to children and young adults. You will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team working alongside a fantastic group of therapists, nurses and other professionals who have specialized training and knowledge to support children and young adults with complex medical needs.
This will be a 4-month contract position, with the opportunity to move to permanent work once the contract has ended.

- 1800-0600 (36 hours per week)
- Every 3rd weekend
What You'll Do
- Within the respiratory therapy scope of practice, physician’s orders, and the child’s care plan, make decisions and deliver a full range of respiratory therapy care based on the fundamentals of respiratory therapy care.
- Maintain accurate, completed, and timely records as defined by respiratory therapy standards of practice and ChildServe policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively, respectfully, and professionally with children, physicians, families, school personnel, ChildServe staff, and others to ensure assigned child’s care needs are assessed, communicated, and met.
- Stay current with all unit and ChildServe specific information.
- Provide respiratory and related training to children, families, and staff as needed to help advance the skills and knowledge of all people associated with a child’s care delivery.
- Demonstrate good stewardship of ChildServe equipment, supplies, and environment.
What You'll Need
- Certification from an accredited respiratory therapy program and current licensure to practice in the state of Iowa.
- Documentation of current CPR/BLS certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Ventilator experience required.
- Experience with tracheostomy care and changes preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
- Ability to understand and communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
- This position requires a seasonal Covid-19 and flu vaccination or approved medical or religious exemption.
