The Shop Technician will provide “hands-on” technical support for the assembly and repair of drilling tools. The primary responsibility of the Shop Technician is to troubleshoot, implement mandatory modifications or preventative/corrective maintenance, assemble and test field equipment tools.

QUALITY

OPERATIONS
- Assemble/disassemble product line tools as per procedure or Technical Work Instruction in accordance with Quality standards
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with the tools
- Implement mandatory modifications and/or preventive and corrective maintenance of the tools/assets
- Conduct testing of tools/assets to ensure integrity of assemblies
- Monitor, record, source and re-order day to day spares and consumables associated with the running of the plant
- Prioritize workload according to the planned production schedule
- Open crates and sort and place materials on racks/shelves/in bins as required
- Prepare tools for shipment and convey materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage/other designated area by hand, forklift, or other means as required and in accordance with operator training
- Record operational hours on tools/assets in work order system
- Monitor and source spares and consumable levels to keep the plant operational and cost effective
- Liaise with the production/shop supervisors and leads, engineering, and other support functions as required, communicating maintenance issues and requirements
- Maintain daily workshop housekeeping
- Successfully complete training plan and competency standards as set out in the position within company guidelines
- Maintain a consistent level of production quality by adhering to manufacturing procedures and work instructions developing corrective action that may reduce ineffective and inefficient operation
- Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job
- Understand and follow maintenance and repair procedures/documentation for applicable products and equipment and complete all relevant documentation
- Required to be available for any approved overtime outside of normal work schedule
- Required to be available on call for any urgent needs

Experience & Education
REQUIRED
- 3+ years related experience in manufacturing/repair and maintenance environment
- High school diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED
- 2+ years experience in related product line (MPD or BOP preferred)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
REQUIRED
- Basic computer skills
- Basic operational knowledge of crane, forklift and materials handling equipment
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work well with team members as well as individually
- Excellent organizational skills
- Must be able to follow instructions
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
PREFERRED
- Possess knowledge of workshop tools utilized by facility
- IPC certification
Travel Requirement:
This role may require domestic and potentially international travel of up to: <10%
