About the role
Having close contact with Confocal.nl’s customer base a Service Engineer is the face of the company for the existing customer. As a service engineer you communicate knowledge and trust to the customers, and support users to get the best out of Confocal.nl imaging systems.
The goal of the Service Engineer is to provide 1st time successful installations at customers, and fast and constructive service to customers experiencing problems with an imaging system, or needing advice in tailoring the system needs for their particular applications. The Service Engineer reports directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, but works in close collaboration with the Sales and Development team.
The tasks and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
● Preparing for Confocal.nl imaging system installations
● Installing and/or assisting remotely customer/distributor in installing Confocal.nl and partners’ products forming a Confocal.nl imaging system (hardware and software installations of Confocal.nl products, microscopes, lasers, camera's etc.)
● Training the customer/distributor to use the Confocal.nl imaging system
● Responding to customer tickets
● Evaluating and resolving customer tickets with the Confocal.nl imaging system, together with partners if applicable
● Building simple tailor made set-ups, and finding solutions together with the Development team to improve product performance and our service levels.

At Confocal.nl we aim to make better microscopes for live cell imaging, to further progress and accelerate eg. drug discovery and agricultural crop improvement. We are continuously working on technology innovation to enrich the microscopy market with more solutions for breakthrough solutions.
Confocal.nl was founded in 2016, as a spin-off company from the University of Amsterdam, where the REscan technology was invented. Since then, we have successfully developed several REscan microscopes and sold them all over the world. We are a growing team of now 20 people (ao. engineers, biologists, sales, support people) and located at the Science Park Amsterdam where Science meets Business in a vibrant atmosphere. Since 2018, the company is supported by investments from several venture capital companies and governmental subsidies.
