We are looking for Sensory interns to join MMR's passionate and vibrant team in China.

Location: No 300 Xikang Road, Benben Building, Jing’an District, Shanghai, 200040, China

Hours: Monday - Friday 9:00-17:30

Key responsibilities: 

  • To assist the daily running of the Sensory Panels including: 
  • To ensure that microbiological clearance is received for all samples that the panel evaluate. 
  • In conjunction with the panel assistant to be responsible for preparing materials for panel training and profiling. 
  • In conjunction with the panel assistant to manage the delivery of research products to SSC, to check that the products are correct upon arrival and to ensure that they are inventoried on arrival and stored correctly. This includes storing and preparing samples for both training and profiling sessions. 
  • To ensure that every project has a Project Management file and that this is established before commencing a project. 
  • To ensure that stats are fully briefed about upcoming project work and the analysis which is required. 
  • Analysis of training check data (using the sensory apps) in order to develop retraining plans and ensure robust data. 
  • In conjunction with the panel assistant to ensure that all Sensory working areas are prepared appropriately in good time for each session and cleared/cleaned after and manage other parties’ use. 
  • In conjunction with the panel assistant to ensure that all activities carried out comply with basic food hygiene standards in order to work safely within the laboratory.  Basic food hygiene training will be provided. 
  • Support all workshop logistics and product purchase and documents needed and to support running and execution of workshops 
  • Support all local administrative and invoices for all clients. 
  • To create engaging reports, using excel, word and powerpoint. 
  • Liaise with the MMR Project Support team based in India, sending out data for charting and checking the resultant charts. This includes planning and coordinating data being sent to MMR’s statistical team and then out to India. 
  • To ensure that ALL projects files are saved on the MMR shared drives. 

 

Requirements

Required qualifications and skills 

Basic Food Hygiene qualification. 

Experience of working in the food industry or food science qualifications. 

Degree level qualifications.

  • Planning and organising – should be able to prioritise own workload and implement effective administrative processes. 
  • Working with others – should be able to maintain open and honest relationships colleagues building trust and confidence. Should be able to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • To promote, at all times, a pleasant working environment for all at MMR. 

 

Technical 

  • Computer literate – Is a competent user in Word, Excel and email 
  • Should be computer literate although training will be given in the relevant software packages 
  • Attention to detail – To create precise and error free proposals/reports (and other documentation including emails) and should be able to check others’ work for inconsistencies and take the necessary action to rectify any errors/problems 
  • An aptitude for food preparation with limited supervision needed.
