About The Role

Humane's Wireless Engineering team works cross-functionally with electrical engineering, software, product design, industrial design, program management, and operations to deliver a successful product to market. As a Lead Wireless Software Engineer on our team, you will be responsible for software engineering design and development of wireless features. You will be working with novel implementations of Cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GNSS, amongst other technologies. 

What You Might Do

  • Work across firmware to software stack to prototype, implement, validate, and deploy state-of-the-art wireless capabilities across a product portfolio
  • Define and implement algorithms to improve network performance, and wireless performance
  • Participate in software systems architecture, design, code review, and define processes for greater team
  • Work with an internal cross-functional team and external partners to successfully bring wireless products to market

Essential Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in wireless software development
  • 2+ years of experience working with cellular technologies
  • Fluent proficiency in one or more of the following development languages: Java, C, C++, Objective C
  • Strong software engineering foundation, including object-oriented design, programming, and debugging
  • Knowledge of radio standards and associated protocols (i.e. 3GPP 5G-NR, LTE-A, WCDMA, IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, GNSS), associated protocols
  • Experience working with Design, Operating Systems, Services, Software QA, Certification, and Manufacturing teams
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment
  • Ability to drive tasks independently and communicate issues/root-cause analysis clearly
  • Experience presenting to senior leadership

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Android or Linux kernel, development, developing software SDKs and frameworks
  • Experience with designing software optimized for low-power operation, low-latency connectivity, and robust wireless performance with coexistence mitigation
  • Experience with scoping features, mapping technical capabilities across software, and assessing required development work
  • Experience with integration of third-party APIs
  • Experience with collecting diagnostics reports, log analysis, and report preparation
  • Experience working with silicon vendors and associated toolchains
  • Experience working with development hardware and hardware development milestones
  • Understanding of TCP/IP protocols, networking, and security
  • Hands-on experience working with lab equipment for measuring system performance, (i.e. protocol testers and analyzers, one-box testers, call-box testers, network signal analyzers)

Salary Range: $185,000-$235,000

  • The salary range for this role is listed above. Final salary offered is based upon multiple factors including individual job-related qualifications, education, experience, knowledge and skills
