As a Senior Designer at Backbase, you will take a leading role in developing and executing high-impact visual design solutions across the Field Marketing team’s initiatives. With a strong background in UI/UX design, you will shape the creative direction of marketing programs and materials, ensuring they are not only visually compelling but also enhance the user experience. Your design approach will be user-centric, blending creative flair with strategic thinking to showcase Backbase’s value proposition and drive engagement across a variety of marketing channels.
As a key member of the Field Marketing team, you will be responsible for developing designs that elevate the buyer and customer journey, from first touchpoint to conversion. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver assets that align with Backbase’s brand identity while ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience across all marketing campaigns.
Meet the job
Design Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead the visual design strategy for marketing programs, ensuring designs are aligned with UI/UX best practices and fully in line with Backbase’s brand identity;
- Translate complex marketing concepts into visually engaging and user-friendly designs for a wide range of assets, including digital campaigns, landing pages, email templates, event materials, and presentations;
- Ensure all marketing assets are designed with the user journey in mind, creating a seamless and engaging experience that drives conversions.;
- Collaborate with Field Marketing and Product Marketing teams to design assets that effectively communicate Backbase’s value propositions and align with business objectives.
UI/UX Expertise & Application:
- Apply UI/UX principles to create intuitive, responsive, and user-centered designs for marketing platforms such as microsites, landing pages, interactive ads, and email campaigns;
- Optimize marketing assets to ensure they provide a frictionless user experience, improving engagement and guiding users through the funnel;
- Conduct user journey mapping and UX research to inform design decisions, ensuring that marketing touchpoints deliver maximum value and meet user needs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner closely with the Field Marketing team, Customer advisory, and Product Marketing to ensure design solutions are aligned with broader business goals and resonate with target audiences;
- Collaborate with Global Design and R&D teams to ensure designs are implementable and maintain UI/UX standards across all digital and offline marketing efforts;
- Drive alignment between the design and marketing teams to ensure that the customer experience remains consistent across all touchpoints.
Design Innovation & Creativity:
- Lead design innovation by introducing new ideas, formats, and technologies that improve the effectiveness of marketing campaigns (e.g., interactive content, motion graphics, animations);
- Stay up to date on UI/UX design trends and incorporate industry best practices to continuously improve Backbase’s design output, keeping the brand at the cutting edge of fintech marketing;
- Experiment with ABM assets, creating highly personalized designs that engage key accounts through tailored user experiences.
Brand Stewardship:
- Serve as a brand ambassador, ensuring that all marketing materials adhere to Backbase’s brand guidelines and convey its core values and unique market positioning;
- Elevate the visual representation of Backbase’s brand across Global field marketing activities, ensuring consistency and relevance to target audiences.
Performance & Optimization:
- Leverage data and performance insights to refine and optimize designs, ensuring marketing assets are driving measurable results such as engagement, pipeline generation, and conversions;
- Conduct A/B testing and other user feedback methods to improve the effectiveness of design elements, ensuring a continuous focus on user experience and interaction.
How about you

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Graphic Design, UI/UX Design, Visual Communication, or a related field;

5+ years of experience in visual design, with a strong emphasis on UI/UX and a proven ability to lead design projects from concept through execution;
- Demonstrated expertise in user-centric design, with the ability to create intuitive digital experiences that align with both marketing and business goals;
- Proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools;
- Experience with HTML/CSS and front-end development concepts is a plus, ensuring design feasibility and alignment with development teams;

Strong understanding of UI/UX principles, including wireframing, prototyping, user journey mapping, and interaction design;
- Experience working across multiple platforms and devices, with a focus on responsive design and ensuring consistency across all mediums;

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design ideas clearly to cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders;

Collaborative mindset, with experience working in fast-paced environments and managing multiple design projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in fintech or SaaS industries, with a deep understanding of customer pain points and how design can solve them;
- Familiarity with Account-Based Marketing (ABM) and the creation of tailored marketing assets for high-value accounts with an executive audience;
- Experience in motion graphics and interactive content, enabling more dynamic and engaging marketing experiences.
