AHEAD is searching for a Sr. Virtualization & Compute Engineer to be a part of our Managed Services
team. Candidates are eager to learn, customer focused, an effective communicator, self-initiating and can
perform most tasks without direct oversight. This position will report to and receive direction from the POD
Engineering Delivery Manager
Roles and Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert and direct escalation resource dealing with technical events and requests needing additional resources or urgent attention
- Daily administration and support of core infrastructure systems
- Work with vendors to resolve virtualization and compute issues
- Perform root cause analysis for issues / provide workarounds to ensure business continuity
- Create and document application & infrastructure requirements by working with those involved in the development of IT enhancements and changes, including Business Systems staff, developers, business stakeholders, and outside consultants as needed
- Ensure that clients’ infrastructure is healthy, stable, documented, and configured with accepted technical best practices
- Ensure business continuity and security across all systems supporting the company IT operations
- Completion of training and certification as assigned to further skills and knowledge
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience with Virtualization technologies.
- Experience with VMware hypervisor required
- Experience with Cisco UCS and Dell hardware systems is required, familiarity with Dell PowerStore would be considered a plus
- Operating System skills with Windows and Linux preferred
- Understanding PowerShell and PowerCLI as well as the ability to create and utilize scripts preferred
- Experience with performance monitoring tools – LogicMonitor, SolarWinds, Elastic, etc.
- Familiarity with Pure and NetApp storage platforms would be considered a plus
- Familiarity with Commvault for VM backups would be considered a plus
- Azure Cloud Platform and Azure Virtual Desktop knowledge is desired
- A college degree or equivalent in Information Systems or related field. Unique education, specialized experience, skills, knowledge, training, or certification may be substituted for education.
- VMware Certified Professional certification required but VMware Certified Advanced Professional certification is preferred
- Managed Services or Consulting experience is a plus
- ITILv4 certification encouraged
