Description:

A Senior Vice President within Teneo Strategic Communications, this role will focus on media relations and will be a core member of our account teams. Senior Vice Presidents are responsible for helping execute holistic, integrated programs and communications initiatives in support of Teneo’s clients. This may include, but not be limited to corporate communications and investor relations programs, executive positioning campaigns, media relations strategies, as well as issues and crisis management. Senior Vice Presidents are highly motivated, entrepreneurial individuals, able to think outside-the-box, as well as navigate complex situations and ambiguous assignments with ease. They are the glue that ensures our team’s deliver best-in-class service and function as a cohesive unit.

Responsibilities:

• Key member of “Core Account Team,” working with Account Managers and Leaders on client mandates.
• Manage junior team members and ensure client teams are progressing against client objectives.
• Serves as a reliable, adaptable resource for senior team members capable of overseeing others.
• Identify and keep up with trends as across the media landscape, including within paid vs owned vs. earned; old vs. new media
• Engage with media including pitching news and meeting with reporters to uncover opportunities for clients across the firm
• Leverage network of media relationships (as well as other stakeholder relationships) to serve clients and bring opportunities to the firm
• Manage day-to-day account work, and the production and refinement of deliverables – including strategic plans, press releases, talking points, Q&A, briefing memos, distributed media materials, and others.
• Contributes to the Business Development process, including proposal development and pitch participation.

Qualifications:

• Strong track record of managing client relationships
• Experience managing large teams, with a particular focus on mentoring junior staff.
• Strong organizational skills with the proven ability to see complex projects through to execution.
• Knowledge of the media landscape and demonstrated track record of engaging with press and/or fostering reporter relationships.
• Experience with issues and crisis management, or complex and/or sensitive mandates.
• Demonstrated understanding of business and financial markets.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication - PowerPoint skills are a must
• Ability to navigate complex or ambiguous environments.
• Strong familiarity with social media platforms, as well as media and monitoring tools such as Factiva.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• Suggested work experience: 10+ years in either public relations, corporate communications or media

Base Salary Range

$170,000-$200,000 (compensation for this role will depend on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience that may fall outside of the range listed).

Flexible Work Policy

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote).

Teneo believes in in-person collaboration when possible and if you are assigned to the New York and San Francisco offices, the company expectation is for employees to work from the office location a minimum of three times a week.
