THE WORK:
Ripple is looking for a collaborative and adaptable individual to join our dynamic tax team. This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual that enjoys learning, improving, and building processes in a dynamic, innovative environment.
The Senior Manager, US Tax Operations will be involved in all aspects of Ripple’s global operations to support US tax direct and indirect tax compliance, tax examinations, tax strategy and planning and tax accounting / provision. You will advise on complex US tax issues, develop and implement solutions to ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations, minimize tax risks, and optimize Ripple’s US tax position. WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Partner with cross-functional groups within Ripple to ensure the US federal, multi-state, and local direct and indirect tax impacts of global business operations and tax needs are identified, considered and communicated.
- Provide input on the US federal, multi-state, and local direct and indirect tax implications of new business initiatives, new products and services, and strategic planning initiatives.
- Advise on changes in US federal, multi-state, and local direct and indirect tax laws and their impacts on the business.
- Proactively identify areas for process improvement within tax and finance and implement solutions to automate and streamline processes around Ripple’s US tax operations to be scalable and drive efficiencies while maintaining strong quality controls.
- Manage US federal, multi-state, and local direct and indirect tax compliance and reporting including all supporting calculations, forms, and information statements to ensure compliance tax regulations and guidelines as well as US GAAP tax accounting/provision requirements.
- Assistance with US federal and multi-state direct and indirect tax examinations including gathering information and assembling responses.
- Manage quarterly and annual forecasts of Ripple’s global operations for forecasting cash taxes and the Company’s global effective tax rate for income taxes under ASC 740.
- Manage external service providers in furtherance of the above.
- 7+ years tax experience. Experience in fintech, financial services tax, and crypto is a plus.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Accounting.
- Deep working knowledge of US and multi-state direct and indirect taxation including US tax impacts of international operations such as FDII, GILTI, Subpart F, FTCs, and BEAT.
- Confident, highly motivated, self-starter, solutions-oriented, innovative, creative thinker, and able to manage and prioritize multiple projects effectively and work independently.
- Investigates and corrects variances, identifies incomplete or inaccurate data, determines root causes, and partners on resolution.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent technical research skills.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- A bonafide team player and a good sense of humor.
