Job Summary/Overview:
Samsung Austin Semiconductor (SAS) is searching for an experienced Senior UNIX Engineer to support 24/7 Foundry FABs' Linux and Solaris systems. The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both back-end and front-end support for end-users. This position is on-site in our Austin office.
Specific Job Duties:
• Perform UNIX/LINUX systems administration on production, Test, QA and/or Development servers.
• Ability to work with internal customers to review projects in their area of expertise and provide useful feedback to meet project needs.
• Good experience in multiple scripting languages for systems administration
• Experience in working with vendors to secure accurate and competitive quotes to fulfill project requirements.
• Monitor systems performance through the use of various scripts and monitoring applications
• Develop and maintain cooperative and collaborative relationships with networking, database, virtualization, storage, software development, and project management teams
• Provides support to customers running Solaris and Enterprise Linux on their application and database servers.
• Ability to communicate clearly with peers, vendors, customers and management.
• Provides fast response for on-call 24/7 coverage support.
• Ability to quickly identify issues and manage support tickets with vendor support teams to strive for best uptime.
• Provides support for the lifecycle of servers and appliances from project planning to retirement of hardware.
• Required to take part in on-call duty phone rotation.

Skills and Qualifications:
Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in a computer discipline or relevant certification.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in enterprise server administration
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, and Tools
• 7+ years of experience with Solaris and/or Red Hat/Oracle Enterprise Linux installation, troubleshooting and administration.
• 5+ years of experience deploying and supporting servers in a 24/7 production environment
• Experience working with Oracle databases desired.
• Ability to adjust to fast-paced environment
• Ability to learn new technologies and make a determination on how those items effect SAS
• Ability to communicate clearly and openly to team and vendors
• High aptitude for quality documentation of technical processes
• Provides support to customers running Solaris and/or Linux on their application and database servers
• Red Hat Clustering and/or Solaris (Sun) clustering experience is desired.
• Desired experience with Oracle Appliances.
• Willingness to work physically with hardware.
• Experience with networking desired
• Proactive in learning new skills required for the position.
• Prior Data Center experience desired
• Prior Oracle vendor experience desired
• Prior On-call support experience desired.
