Figure is an AI Robotics company developing a general purpose humanoid. Our Humanoid is designed for corporate tasks targeting labor shortages and jobs that are undesirable or unsafe. We are based in Sunnyvale, CA and require 5 days/week in-office collaboration.
We are looking for a Senior Thermal Engineer to simulate and analyze our robots thermal performance and design thermal management systems.
Responsibilities:
- Build a thermal model of our actuators, battery, sensors, computers, and other key components
- Simulate kinematic use cases on the thermal model and determine where thermal mitigations are necessary
- Generate and execute test plans to demonstrate the necessity and effectiveness of your thermal management designs
- Inspect first articles, build test stands, and continuously support parts on robot development platforms
- Work cross-functionally with subsystem owners of to integrate the thermal management system into the robot
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, 2+ years explicit experience in thermal modeling
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Robotics, Mechatronics, or similar field
- Experienced in using 3D CAD software to design parts with complex geometry
- Experience designing and building prototypes
- Experienced with simulation and analysis methodology and software (ANSYS, COMSOL, MATLAB, etc)
- Ability to write and maintain clean documentation for your design process
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with high volume manufacturing processes.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers.
- Experience creating 3D CAD models, especially in CATIA V6
- Experience with textiles
