Mighty Buildings is hiring a

Senior Technician (3D printer operator, Prototyping Engineer)

İstanbul, Turkey

Mighty Buildings is a construction technology company with offices in Oakland, and Monterrey.

We are disrupting the construction industry by creating beautiful, sustainable, and high-quality homes using 3D printing, advanced materials, and robotics automation.

We’ve raised Series B funding and are backed by top investors like Khosla Ventures, Zeno Ventures, and Y-Combinator.

We are seeking a highly skilled individual who is deeply familiar with the prototyping process. This candidate should possess a broad range of knowledge related to equipment operation, must be hands-on, capable of assembling functional prototypes and suggesting innovative ideas to improve the operational equipment.

The candidate will have the ability to analyze emerging problems and swiftly resolve them on-site using available resources. Strong prototyping skills are essential. This includes working with thermoplastics, resin, and various types of 3D printers, as well as proficiency in CAD/CAM systems like SolidWorks and Fusion 360 for rapid part and product design. The ability to develop programs and operate different 3D printers, along with experience in operating CNC equipment such as laser cutters and milling centers, is required. Additionally, skills in finishing techniques like spray coating, assembling, and design verification are necessary. Experience in prototyping components made of metal — and arranging their manufacture — is highly desirable.

Furthermore, our team is involved in material development, meaning this individual will work closely with chemists and engineers. Therefore, communication skills in English are necessary to ensure effective collaboration. The candidate must also adhere to safety instructions and be proactive in asking for further information or clarification as needed.

What You’ll Be Doing

  1. Writing and optimizing G-code for 3D printing processes.
  2. Operating and maintaining a variety of 3D printers, both large and small scale.
  3. Using hand tools for the development and assembly of printer components.
  4. Engaging in the prototyping process from concept to launch.
  5. Conducting electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic / pneumatic work related to 3D printing systems.
  6. Testing developed equipment, and implementing system improvements.
  7. Utilizing CAD and CAM systems (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion) for design and fabrication processes.

What’s Required

  1. Hands-on experience in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  2. Experience with prototyping using metal and plastic parts.
  3. Understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles.
  4. Familiarity with automation systems and control algorithms.
  5. Proven experience in G-code writing and 3D printing operations.
  6. Proficiency in CAD software.
  7. Competence in using hand tools.

What’s Nice-to-Have

  1. English proficiency at a B1 level or higher.
  2. CNC machine operation experience.
