Your Impact

You will be a Program Manager of the Operations, Hardware, and VR Labs team. This team is responsible for aiding the VR team to shift from a tactically focused team to a strategically focused team on how we help grow and scale the business, though greater efficiency, insights, and new opportunities. As part of that, you will be focused on projects that contribute to that goal.

VR is a constantly evolving industry with the technology importing and being iterated on regularly. You will work with VR and traditional technologies to conceive, test, and build the platform that supports all of Axon’s VR and AR experiences. The platform that you create will define the future of augmented and virtual reality use in Public Safety applications. We see leveraging the technology for training applications to be the first stop on our journey of possibilities.

You will own the build of our ecosystem of VR partners, both hardware and software, that enable us to provide a best-in-class training experience that not only differentiates Axon, but tackles key challenges with existing training approaches and current VR technology. You will not only work closely with existing strategic partners, but explore and manage new opportunities to expand the business. 

You will #JoinForces with our partners to manage complex development projects to bring the results of these partnership to market, as well as working with internal teams to manage and develop hardware/software solutions. You will also work with supply chain and corporate development to solidify and deliver on the goals of these partnership. 

Lastly, you will drive cross-functional teams to successfully prepare and manage existing and new product builds, as well as scaling the production lines to support mass production. This includes budget development, product manufacturing tracking, in market testing, materials/supply chain coordination, quality control, and packaging development. 

What You’ll Do

Location: Onsite at our Scottsdale, AZ office 3 days a week
Reports to: Sr. Director of Product

  • Develop, track, and drive high-visibility projects to ensure readiness for new and existing VR hardware products. This includes collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate new hardware into Axon’s VR Training platform, working with hardware partners to define and build out new functionality, and leading Go-to-Market (GTM) initiatives for new product launches.
  • Partner internally across disciplines, including Finance, Sales, NPI, and Supply Chain, to develop accurate product forecasts and maintain inventory levels to meet current market demand. Participate in product cost-down implementation, SKU and NPI management, Bill of Materials (BOM) tracking, and product inventory management initiatives.
  • Prepare and manage presentations and reports for senior management, including data analysis, test result interpretation, and R&D on new VR equipment. Lead planning and review sessions with stakeholders, ensuring clear expectations, accountability, and proactive risk mitigation for high-visibility projects.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Program Management and Product Managers to implement, track, and drive the Axon Product Lifecycle Process, from new product development to end-of-life for all VR hardware products. Additionally, generate solutions to a wide range of technical, workflow, and business problems/operations, including post-sale integration for all in-market VR products. 
  • Manage and track engagements with existing and potential partners of hardware and software technology providers that contribute to Axon’s long-term vision and moonshot goals.

What You Bring

  • 8+ years work experience as a Product or Program Manager. 
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering or related field of study is preferred.
  • High degree of competency and proven success with project management including: Agile methodology, identifying and managing risks, tracking dependencies and milestones, and communicating overall project status.
  • Experience in prototype, hardware, and production management, having brought consumer hardware to market.
  • Ability to identify dependencies, mitigate risks and meet deliverables through global cross-functional teams 
  • Proven experience establishing 0-1 processes when existing standards do not exist
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate with all levels of stakeholders, including executive leaders

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 120,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 231,000 in the highest geographic market. The on target earnings range for this role is between USD 201,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 386,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
