About You:

You have a proven history of providing technical accounting and reporting processes to clients at Big 4 accounting firms, a public company or have built this process in a private company leading to S-1 S-1/IPO/SEC process. You have provided accounting guidance / treatment for complex business transactions. You are accustomed to rolling up your sleeves to get things done while also having a significant contribution to big picture strategy. Your days are spent supporting accounting and reporting for transactions, business operations are in line with USGAAP, and able to interact with external auditors and advisors.   

What You’ll Do:

Technical Accounting & Accounting Policy  

  • Be a trusted business partner and advisor to various stakeholders within Finance and Accounting and across the company including Legal, Equity, Business and Insurance 
  • Develop and maintain the financial reporting function including preparation and filing of 10-Qs, 10-Ks, proxy statements, earnings releases, and other forms of SEC financial reports  
  • Prepare and coordinate all internal financial reporting, quarterly and annual reports, including.
  • Responsible for the compilation of financial statements, footnotes, management’s discussion and analysis and all other components of SEC filings, once public  
  • Analyze and record commission revenues as part of the month-end close
  • Perform analytical analyses over the Company’s revenues month over month and quarter over quarter to understand and document Company initiatives and their effect on the Company’s financials
  • Review contracts for proper accounting treatment as well as document conclusions on key accounting matters, such as reserves, revenue, reinsurance
  • Assist the technical accounting function including significant transactions, identifying, analyzing and applying technical guidance, documenting accounting memos, and providing training to internal Finance and Accounting group  
  • Be a proactive liaison with external auditors to drive timely closure of technical accounting matters and the annual audits
  • Assist with compiling information for Sarbanes Oxley testing and compliance   
  • Maintain effective internal controls in relation to the technical accounting process and other duties   
  • Be a trusted business partner and advisor to various stakeholders within Finance and Accounting and across the company including Legal, Equity, Business and Insurance  
  • Develop and maintain effective internal controls in relation to the Financial Reporting process  
  • Be a point person for all external reporting including owning Workiva reporting software

Must Haves: 

  • BS/BA in Accounting 
  • 2 - 3+ years of experience in accounting/auditing  
  • Public company experience or Big 4 
  • CPA or in the process of pursuing
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls 
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills  
  • Great organizational skills 
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and handle multiple tasks from multiple stakeholders 
  • Intellectually curious, analytically strong, and embracer of change

  • NetSuite experience

Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this role is $70,000 - $117,000. The SF Bay Area base pay range for this role is $90,000 - $150,000. Exact compensation may vary based on several job-related factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, experience, education/training, location, business needs and market demands.
