About the Role
Lightship’s mission to modernize and electrify RVs demands that we build a high competency in cutting-edge electronics and controls. As a Systems Engineer, you are comfortable working cross-functionally to create engineering requirements and optimized designs. You are resourceful and willing to be hands-on in a program’s early stages as well as willing to evolve as the program moves into production. You will collaborate across Product, Design, Engineering, and beyond to make shrewd architectural decisions that hasten our path to market with an exceptional vehicle that redefines RVing.
Responsibilities
Translate product requirements into engineering specifications
Track specifications and monitor progress
Manage and document DFMEAs
Create and refine electrical system design, such as controller and component topologies
Analyze data to inform design decisions and improvements
Create system diagrams and schematics
Support technical supplier management and requirements definition
Collaborate with other engineering teams to optimize system design
Understand interdependencies between vehicle, power system, and controls
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field
Minimum 5 years experience as an Systems Engineer or Electrical Engineer in an automotive or adjacent industry
Experience authoring and maintaining engineering requirements
Solid knowledge of electrical schematics and control circuitry
Good understanding of electric power systems
Good understanding of electrical safety
Experience working with electromechanical systems
Self-directed and motivated with the ability to work effectively in uncertain situations
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with automotive safety standards (e.g. ISO26262, AUTOSAR) or similar
PCBA design experience
Understanding of EMI/EMC design principles
Basic understanding of Python
Modeling using Matlab/Simulink

Lightship compensation consists of the yearly salary above plus equity, which gives you a stake in the company.
Onsite/Hybrid Work
Hybrid roles at Lightship require onsite work from our offices Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Tuesdays and Fridays are optional work from home days, when your work will be executed more successfully from home. Speak to the hiring manager to learn more.
