THE POSITION
This position will support the systems engineering activities for North American OEMs. The system engineer is responsible for System Requirement Engineering, System incl in-vehicle Testing as well as System Architecture/Function Development for Body Electronic and Trailer Brake systems. The candidate will be working with a regional and global development team, interacting with engineering disciplines such as software, hardware, mechanical, testing and more to implement core Continental technologies in the Body Electronic and Trailer Brake systems into the OEMs platforms. Once requirements are defined, the system engineer will be tasked to validate and verify systems performances as well as trouble shoot related issues as they arise in development and launch of Continental products in the OEMs vehicle platforms. Beyond application development projects, this position also includes support of advanced development/innovation projects as well as acquisition support. The system engineer will bring generic solutions and strategies from the global platform team to the American market and provide an understanding of the local market and customer requirements to the global development locations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Elicit and analyze customer requirements and requirements of other stakeholders
- Verify the feasibility of requirements and create the compliance/deviation list
- Author and Manage system level specifications for the development of embedded software
- Communicate and negotiate system requirements internally with the platform team and externally with the customer
- Define and evaluate system architecture concepts including Functional Safety mindset.
- Customer Technical Interface for system performance and functionality of the embedded software in automotive products including performance of diagnostics and software integration and calibration
- Manage selected requirements in corporate tool suite
- Support planning of functional contents of system deliveries with input from all stakeholders
- Support planning and burn down for system topics on a regular basis and report status to project management Acquisition Support
- Review the integration test plan, perform system FMEA
- Support development of projects in compliance with the ASPICE framework
- Manage the development and support Vehicle Functional Test Plan validating the implementation of the embedded software in automotive products
- Execute Functional Vehicle Testing validating the implementation of the embedded software as well as system performance.
- Lead the analysis of system and integration test results
- Create technical attachment for quotations and for new functions/features
- Estimate R&D effort for system requirement engineering and system architecture development Advanced Development Projects/Innovations
- Support the development/maintenance of new/existing system functions and features including understanding of implemented application SW.
- Define and evaluate function/system concepts.
- Support demonstrator set ups
- Support the presentation of new/existing functions/features to internal and external customers.
- Perform Calibration and Testing activities on bench and in-vehicle.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- 3 years of Brake Development Functions/Features.
- Understanding of Brake Control Functions such as- ABS, ESC, Smart Cruise Control, Front Collision Avoidance, Hill Start Assist
- Good understanding of requirement engineering and system architecture development.
- Experience with DOORS for requirement management
- Experience with Vector vehicle network tools.
- Experience with model based design language/toolsSatisfactory skills to adapt/modify Brake SW Functions directly OR helping SW engineering team to make right changes to the SW functions, through pseudo code or logic flow diagrams.
- Knowledge of CAN and LIN based tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe
- Experience working with US OEMs
- Experienced with in-vehicle dynamic testing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Engineering related field.
- 5 years of Automotive Engineering experience
- Experience working in embedded software development.
- Experience in setting up and executing vehicle test activities independently.
- Experienced with in-vehicle dynamic testing incl. trailers.
