Why does our mission matter?
There are over 1.3 billion Africans in the world and is the fastest growing region in the world. Africa is also the most expensive place to send money to and trade with. Talent is everywhere but opportunity isn’t. How do we bridge this divide with a sense of purpose?
- Think about people living far away from their loved ones who are financially responsible and support them. Imagine how you would feel losing 8-9% of your money through fees. How do we reduce the cost of sending money home through technology?
- What about the future for businesses? Think about those who are trying to do cross-border business from Africa outbound to the rest of the world? Why is it so hard to trade today? Why do people have to send money with other people physically or cash on planes? How much money and time is lost while doing this?
- What about the reliability of trade? When payments are delayed, that means business is disrupted. This costs everyone money. It loses us trust with customers.
- What about the future of work? Think about those young TikTok influencers in Uganda who make amazing content, but can’t get paid because they don’t have Visa or Mastercards yet have mobile money?
NALA’s true impact will be measured by the opportunities we create for Africa to trade with the world and the world to trade with Africa.
🎯 Your responsibilities in this role
- Oversee the day-to-day management of IT systems and networks ensuring overall security of the NALA IT ecosystem
- Lead IT projects from inception to delivery, ensuring alignment with budget and strategic objectives.
- Manage IT inventory, procurement, and lifecycle replacement schedules.
- Enhance processes related to employee onboarding, IT task throughput, and device management.
- Provide support for queries related to computer systems, software, and hardware for both office-based and remote teams.
- Perform administrative tasks including user creation, managing group policies, and handling computer accounts.
- Develop and implement automation solutions to streamline IT processes, including onboarding and asset management.
- Administer and support critical tools such as Slack, Jira, Jump Cloud/MDM, MS Defender/EDR, and Asset Management systems (Asset Panda).
- Resolve IT issues to minimize disruption to business operations and maintain high-quality IT service standards.
- Document IT processes and best practices, and create training materials for team members.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align IT strategies with company goals and stay updated with technology trends.
🔥 Must-Have Job Requirements
- 5+ years of extensive experience in systems administration, ideally in a fast-paced startup or high-growth environment.
- Hands-on experience with Slack, Jira, Jump Cloud/MDM, MS Defender/EDR, and Asset Management systems (Asset Panda).
- Proven ability to create and implement automation solutions to streamline IT processes.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure and networks with knowledge of cybersecurity practices and standards, including ISO 20001.
- Strong project management skills with experience managing IT projects from inception to delivery.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Experience working as a sole IT resource is advantageous but not required.
💪 Nice-to-Have Job Requirements:
- Experience with Google Workspace administration, Apple Business Management and other tools
- Experience managing Zoom or similar workplace communication tools.
- Experience with Jamf or JumpCloud.
