e.construct designs structures such as bridges, high-rise design, commercial facilities design, precast concrete engineering, and post-tensioning design. We are a multi-disciplinary engineering design firm with specialized design and value engineering services.  The firm's core work is holistic at its approach, and it has divisions in structural, MEP, Geotechnical, and emerging construction technology such as 3D printing of concrete, technology, and 3D laser scanning.


As a Senior Structural Engineer, you lead a team of drafters, junior engineers, and structural engineers. You should have extensive experience in the industry and ideally have had some experience with research institutions or academia. You should be able to bridge between experimental and novel systems/research and traditional industry needs. This requires both a solid understanding of structural fundamentals and experience with complex projects including high-rise design to be able to fill this role.  Diverse experience with various structural systems such as precast, post-tension, and structural steel is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction, coordination, planning, and completion of engineering projects.
  • Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including the time and scope involved.
  • Provide sound technical expertise when applying engineering principles, techniques, and methods to the design of projects.
  • Work with a growing team to direct the analysis and design of structural systems for buildings.
  • Work alongside project management teams to successfully monitor progress and implementation of initiatives.
  • Prepare engineering design computations, sketches, and review final design drawings/documents.
  • Prepare and issue specifications, datasheets, and other construction documents.
  • Review and extract engineering information from CAD Drawings & BIM tools.
  • Review designs prepared by others as part of a Quality Management process
  • Review blueprints, plans, and change orders to verify the structural integrity of materials and designs and perform complex calculations and use modeling methods to ensure correct results.
  • Participate in existing and future e.construct engineering innovation developments.
  • Participate in the initial planning and bidding processes, including reviewing environmental factors, government regulations, construction costs, and risk analysis reports to prepare a comprehensive study on all relevant design factors.
  • Design structural components for large-scale projects, including analyzing survey reports, topographical maps, zoning restrictions, and client requirements to ensure specifications meet project goals.
  • Planned and formulate engineering programs and organise project staff according to project requirements and High-level design direction.
  • Conduct value engineering and manage project design and deliverables as well as other design team members and supervise the work of engineers and modelers.
  • Coordinate and assist the management to develop and continuously improve the design review process and maintaining quality.
  • Perform complex engineering tasks effectively and accurately.
  • Establish the design requirements of the project and monitor the draft and final deliverable for adherence to these criteria.
  • Carry out the technical review for all project tasks including Independent Design Checks.
  • Assure design is in conformance with time, cost, schedule, and contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate the work of the project team with other engineering disciplines through liaison with other professionals.
  • May act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering-related matters.
  • Assist Engineering Manager in supervising Assistant and Junior Engineers.
  • Mentor Civil Engineers and facilitate a holistic understanding as to the scope and plan for projects.
  • Define clear goals for all aspects of a project and develop steps for their proper execution.
  • Account for possible project challenges or constraints and proactively seek to manage challenges.
  • Assist other department engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and demonstrating them to other members of the team.
  • Establish a framework for necessary contributions from various departments and facilitate their collaboration.
  • Research existing and new material technology to determine practical applications, strength and durability expectations, and cost-benefits information, and prepare material recommendations for current and future projects.
  • Create and present structural overviews for upcoming projects and develop reports that include technical details for engineers as well as big-picture analysis and cost estimates for project managers and senior executives.
  • Write reports and proposals.
  • Give presentations to customers.
  • Negotiate with vendors and providers of services.

Requirements

  • Degree (Master’s preferred) in structural engineering or related field.
  • 8 to 12 years of experience.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Working knowledge of current industry software, such as ETABS, SAFE, SAP, RAM, Revit, AutoCAD, and other software.
  • Experience developing schematics for structures in accordance with client specifications and safety standards.
  • Prior experience in managing and guiding engineers to efficiently produce calculations and sketches.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Project development and leadership skills are essential.
  • Professional work experience in developing blueprints and designs for proposed structures.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working with various operating systems.
  • Experience with software engineering, customer experience and design architecture.
  • Advanced understanding of build materials, techniques, and processes.
  • Up-to-date understanding of best practices regarding building safety measures.
  • Ability to direct multiple projects at a time.
  • Ability to use AutoCAD and other BIM Tools software programs for checking.
  • Ability to use the BIM tools for drawings checking.
  • Ability to think “outside the box” to provide creative solutions.
  • Ability to work with various departments to facilitate the orderly execution of a proposed project plan.
