Senior Strategy Manager (M&A) - Hybrid

Key Objective of Role

Based in our regional headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Senior Strategy Manager is a pivotal role in helping SEEK define and deliver its long term vision and growth ambitions. The role is split into 2 key parts

  • Developing and evolving the overall SEEK adjacencies strategy across APAC:
    • Leading projects relating to the execution of this strategy in our markets
    • Helping SEEK use its global scale to strengthen businesses in individual markets 
    • Developing and maintaining relationships with key functional areas within SEEK, and within our various businesses
  • Developing and evolving SEEK’s M&A strategy:
    • Leading the sourcing, due diligence, and general deal execution of potential new acquisitions for SEEK
    • Managing and nurturing relationships with two of our portfolio companies, JobKorea and BDjobs.com. This entails overseeing the performance of both portfolio companies, conducting bi-annual visits, engaging with management, and conducting monthly meetings to identify and implement strategic actions aimed at value creation.

The Team

SEEK global Strategy team is composed of ~30-40, mostly ex-consultants from top-tier consulting firms. About a third of the team sits in our Kuala Lumpur offices.   • Other team members of the APAC SEEK strategy team
  • The Chief Executive Officer, Asia
  • The Chief Strategy Officer, Asia
  • The Head of Strategy, APAC
  • The Director of Strategy, APAC
  • The Managing director of Portfolios investments
  • Other members of the Executive team in Asia or APAC

The successful candidate will have:

5-8 years’ experience working in strategy-related roles, with at least 5 years in a top tier strategy consulting firm or top-tier PE/investment banking firm. M&A experience is a must.

  • Highly developed reasoning capabilities, analytical and problem solving skills with proven ability to break down and scope strategic problems
  • Experienced in developing business level strategy and defining this in terms of specific objectives, targets and initiatives
  • Ability to motivate and lead strategy project teams to deliver results that beat expectations
  • Relevant experience in M&A, due diligence, deal execution, post-merger integration, and portfolio management/operations. Private equity and/or investment banking experience is crucial.

Passion for developing creative fact-based growth strategy and excellent business acumen

  • High degree of intellectual flexibility with a passion for understanding complex human and economic interactions and ‘making sense’ of the world
  • A track record of having tackled genuinely ambiguous and strategic problems (i.e. where to play, how to win)
  • A high learning orientation and a desire to become a global expert in online marketplace design and operations

Track record of working with others to ‘get stuff done’

  • Ownership, drive - delivering outcomes with cross functional, cross market teams
  • Ability to establish relationships and influence senior stakeholders from a range of cultures
  • Collaborative and empathetic work style. High degree of humility and willingness to “get stuck in”
