What we do?

ICEYE is building and operating its commercial constellation of small Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites with SAR data available to customers. Our satellites acquire images of Earth at any time – even when it’s cloudy or dark – providing commercial and government partners with unmatched persistent monitoring capabilities. Information derived from our SAR images helps customers make data-driven decisions to address time-critical challenges in various sectors, such as maritime, disaster management, insurance, and finance.

What will you do in this role?

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior/Staff Space Systems Engineer to work with us on topics related to systems engineering, requirements and specification management as well as mission programs development.

The role consists of multidisciplinary tasks and activities related to:

  1. Working with the Space Systems, Product and Program Management teams on definition of the functional requirements for satellite missions and other phases of the mission delivery programs
  2. Development of detailed technical specifications of the satellite missions including aspects related to both space and ground segment
  3. Requirements engineering and management, including requirements flowdown and interface definitions to support a system and its decomposition into multiple levels
  4. Ownership and maintenance of the technical documentation of satellite generations and missions
  5. Technical risk assessment and preparation of mitigation strategies
  6. Development of streamlined qualification, verification and validation plans, with roll-up of lower level verification to higher-level verification
  7. Sharing knowledge and training other team members in system engineering methodology

Requirements

We're looking for:

  1. Degree in Space Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline
  2. Extensive experience in space systems engineering, requirements engineering and management, functional requirements development and specification documentation maintenance
  3. Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams including all sorts of engineering, operations, product and program management
  4. Hands-on experience with space mission development and management, mission budgets development and verification
  5. Experience with system modeling and requirements management tools (e.g.: IBM DOORS, Ansys SCADE, Jama Connect)
  6. Critical and analytical thinking
  7. Deep understanding of overall spacecraft system-level design and execution of the space mission
  8. Decisiveness and taking responsibility for some of the key decisions within the mission development process
  9. Ability to take ownership of the task, plan and perform activities from start to finish
  10. Positive and proactive attitude, desire to learn and share knowledge
  11. Excellent communication skills

Good to have:

  1. Extensive experience with complex systems design, implementation and operations
  2. Experience within the New Space industry
