As Waabi continues to grow rapidly in 2024, the Infrastructure team will be challenging ourselves to improve our ML infrastructure both in scale and efficiency while ensuring additional systems supporting the company’s engineering and research efforts are running top notch. We’re looking for a candidate who has extensive experience in designing, implementing and troubleshooting cloud systems but is also well balanced with physical equipment knowledge.

The ideal candidate would work closely with the hardware team to collaboratively design and implement vehicle computers and networks. The successful candidate will also actively contribute to our machine learning infrastructure, CI systems, and software delivery. This role includes responsibility in physical infrastructure as well as cloud infrastructure.

You will...
- Work alongside a team of multidisciplinary Engineers and Research Scientists using an AI-first approach to enable safe self-driving at scale.
- Collaborate with hardware team on vehicle compute and network designs and implementation.
- Work with software and hardware teams on OS and software delivery into vehicles.
- Assist with vehicle compute and network performance tuning and general diagnostics as needed.
- Work with software and hardware teams to implement and maintain high volume data pipelines.
- Work on multiple projects designing, building, deploying tools, systems and infrastructure to support vehicle development.

Qualifications:
- BS, MS/PhD in Computer Science or similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Deep understanding of computer and network hardware and how detailed selection affects performance and reliability.
- Experience with on-premise servers, network equipment and storage systems.
- Experience in Linux and Linux kernel (performance tuning, low level debugging, hardening).
- Experience with configuration management (Ansible preferred) and system administration.
- Experience working with public cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
- Experience with infrastructure as code systems (Terraform preferred).
- Familiarity with cloud security concepts, credential management, IAM systems, and data security.
- Experience with containers and container orchestration (i.e., Docker, ECS, Kubernetes).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and release management.
- Some experience in reading and developing production quality software.
- Open-minded and collaborative team player with the willingness to help others.
- Passionate about self-driving technologies, solving hard problems, and creating innovative solutions.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Able to travel occasionally.

Bonus:
- Experience with automated building of OS images for deployment onto physical computers.
- Experience with high performance network design and debugging.
- Experience with scale-out storage systems.
- Familiarity with self-driving vehicle sensors and hardware.
- Experience with Python and Bash- Familiarity with GO, Rust or C++ ecosystems- Experience with building platform services that enable other teams to do their best work.
- Experience in common ML tools, workflows and frameworks (i.e. systems like Kubeflow or MLFlow).

The US yearly salary range for this role is: $141,000 - $242,000 USD in addition to competitive perks & benefits. Waabi (US) Inc.’s yearly salary ranges are determined based on several factors in accordance with the Company’s compensation practices. The salary base range is reflective of the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.  Note: The Company provides additional compensation for employees in this role, including equity incentive awards and an annual performance bonus.
