Senior Staff Software Engineer (Developer Productivity)

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Staff Engineer to contribute to Developer Productivity, with a focus on Test Platform Engineering. Our team’s flagship platforms provide lightweight test frameworks for every layer, synthetic identities, test data seeding, endpoint mocking, and overall testing infrastructure. These tools enable Affirm Engineering Teams to perform automated, deterministic testing with consistency across locations. Additionally, we support our partner teams in conducting exploratory testing, allowing us to evolve our ways of working collaboratively.

Our goal is to create a workplace where teams of partners from engineering, product, and design backgrounds can focus on creativity and problem-solving, empowered by simplified, repeatable, and automated testing processes.

In this role, you will actively collaborate on the multi-year roadmap, design technical solutions for the hardest problems, and drive cross-team, cross-domain initiatives. You will work closely with the Engineering Director and the team to enhance quality standards and processes, while representing the team in broader organizational efforts.

What You'll Do

  • Lead Multi-Year Strategy: Define and execute the technical strategy for Test Platform Engineering, ensuring it aligns with broader organizational goals and business impact.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead complex, cross-team initiatives, making critical technical decisions while fostering collaboration across engineering, product, and design teams.
  • Influence Roadmaps: Work closely with stakeholders to align roadmaps across multiple domains, ensuring that test infrastructure supports product scalability and reliability.
  • Mentorship and Technical Leadership: Mentor and guide engineers to elevate technical standards and quality, particularly in designing robust testing frameworks.
  • Build World-Class Systems: Architect scalable test systems that enable rapid growth, ensuring Affirm’s infrastructure can scale 10x while maintaining the highest standards of quality and automation.

What We Look For

  • 10+ years of software development experience, with proven success leading large-scale, multi-team initiatives across products and teams with presence in multiple regions.
  • Technical Vision and Leadership: Ability to define technical roadmaps and strategies that impact multiple teams and drive business results.
  • Experience Contributing to Platform and Infrastructure Programs: Expertise in designing, building, and scaling automation related frameworks and infrastructure. Experience in test related infrastructure, frameworks, and tooling is a major plus.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Proven ability to collaborate and influence both technical and non-technical teams, with a focus on asynchronous communication such as technical specs, RFCs, and project plans.
  • Hands-On Experience in Key Technologies: Deep expertise in Python, Kotlin, or React, with a focus on testing best practices. Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD) is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Pay Grade - R

Equity Grade - Poland 6

Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills. 

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents). In addition, the employees may be eligible for equity rewards offered by Affirm Holdings, Inc. (parent company).

POL base pay range per year: 415,000 zł  -  515,000 zł
