Senior Staff Product Designer, Search & Discovery UX

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Product Design, The Senior Staff Product Designer will be an individual contributor who works on top priority projects at Coupang. This designer will work closely with the senior leadership, making their vision and ideas tangible. This position requires rapid ideation and execution skills.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Interact with the senior leadership at Coupang to understand the vision that drives growth and profitability at scale.

  • Conduct & contribute to brainstorming and ideation sessions to identify projects & initiatives based on organizational goals and priorities.

  • Apply Coupang leadership principles to evolve and prioritize the initiatives and get leadership buy in on the strategic directions.

  • Interface with different departments and cross functional teams to evaluate the feasibility of the initiatives and consult with them during the design process.

  • Design the product and service interfaces aligned with our company’s strategic goals and objectives.

  • Apply design principles and use insights based on data & research to create product designs that are attractive, functional, and user-friendly.

  • Work collaboratively with engineering, marketing, and other departments to ensure the successful launch of new features, products and services.

  • Utilize design and prototyping tools to create graphical representations, proof of concept designs and interactive solutions.

  • Make necessary design adjustments based on tradeoffs, A/B testing data, user testing insights.

  • Drive to impact & contribute with design on growth and profitability of the core business.

 

Key Experience

  • 10+ years of experience delivering high quality designs.

  • Has led design sprints, team brainstorming, and ideation exercises.

  • Closely partnered with Product Owners & leadership team to develop strategy and rationale for large and complex features, projects, or programs.

  • Collaborated with diverse teams in a dynamic, rapid growth environment, fast-paced start up environment.

  • Track record of using data and quantitative research methodologies to inform decision making across the entire product design process/lifecycle.

  • Domain knowledge of the e-commerce and understanding of the complexities of a marketplace/consumer platform model.

 

Traits and Competencies

  • Able to operate autonomously to manage projects in a fast-paced environment and remain focused amidst frequently changing requirements.

  • Able to pitch and hold in depth discussions with the C-level stakeholders.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interaction Design, Industrial Design, HCI, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Psychology, Ethnography, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both in English and Korean.
