Your Role in Our Journey
We're excited to announce that we’re hiring a Senior Staff Full Stack Software Developer to join our Clinical Group. This group of teams is responsible for allowing practitioners to focus on providing the best patient care. The successful candidate will be taking on a technical leadership position in this group where engaged teams are iterating on delightful user experiences for the clinical space such as charting, intake forms, clinical surveys, and more. We’re also building for a new type of Jane user - the 3rd party developer.
Providing extensibility opportunities in our charting domain is a new, multi-year initiative that you will play an important part in shaping. In all the group’s initiatives, your voice will be one of reason accumulated through a variety of complex experiences though tempered with a desire to move forward swiftly and with confidence. This role is more about asking the right questions than knowing all the answers. You’ll be supporting developers in the group thorough strong review and reinforcement of a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement. This role includes some coding with a strong emphasis on leading by example.

The impact you could have
- Drive customer value. Practitioners engage with our clinical experiences like charting throughout their day. Each small improvement represents tangible value for them.
- Develop and drive best practices building solutions for our newest type of Jane user - the 3rd party developer. Integration services must be secure, performant, and scalable. They must be delivered with quality.
- Experience a sense of shared purpose as you become an expert in the domains for all teams, and work with them over the long term to expand and improve their feature sets.
- Mentor and guide developers, fostering their professional growth and establishing good patterns in technical design and operational processes.
- As leader of the Group Architecture Team, drive a culture of innovation, and set and maintain high standards for development across the group so that we ship high-quality code frequently and with confidence.
- As a member of the Architecture Leadership Team, use your expertise to impact the broader development group by contributing to architecture reviews and best practice direction.
The experience we feel we need
- At least a decade of hands on experience leading complex technical projects and setting technical direction with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Multiple projects demonstrating experience applying architectural patterns and design patterns in and across services, with an eye towards clean architecture and clean coding practices.
- Demonstrated customer obsession supported by experience working directly with customers.
- Still coding and loving it with a career building out customer-facing features from inception to adoption by a broad user base using incremental delivery.
- Proven track record in creating and maintaining highly performant services, through performance profiling and tuning.
- Experience scaling systems both vertically and horizontally using a metrics-based approach to decision-making.
- The ability to share technical details clearly in written and verbal form, with the ability to communicate well to a wide-range of audiences (including technical and non-technical).
- Cloud architecture (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) and some Infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform or Helm) experience.
- Proven ability to provide technical coaching in a scalable way that promotes a culture of excellence in all aspects of software development.
Compensation Expectations for the Role
Jane’s committed to paying our team members fairly, clearly, and above all, paying for growth. This role has a minimum annual salary of $185,300 and maximum annual salary of $301,100. As you may have noticed, this salary range is quite large, and this is intentional to account for the growth someone will experience in the role throughout their time at Jane (i.e., from building the skills, to accomplished, to highly proficient, all the way to achieving excellence in the role). When hiring talented folks to join the Jane team, we’ve found that new team members are best set up for success when hired with the expectation of being fully accomplished in the role, which for this role would reflect a starting salary of $220,100. It's also possible to join Jane at a salary above or below this, which would mean a salary below $220,100 typically reflects someone who has all the potential to be fully accomplished in the role but doesn't yet possess all the skills required, while a salary above $220,100 is typically for individuals who are currently in this role at Jane and had the opportunity to make a significant positive impact on our customers, product and company with deep Jane knowledge.
