We are looking for a Staff Frontend Developer to join one of our squads where you will be supporting Lightspeed’s Hospitality product group on the mission to expand our reach into new markets and countries while enhancing our advanced hospitality commerce platform. 

For this role specifically, you will be joining the team focused on the Kitchen Display System (KDS), a product that sits in our customer’s kitchen and allows our customers to increase the efficiency of their restaurants. Our mission is to provide the best KDS product out there, that can streamline the processes of our customers, adapt to their needs, improve communication among their staff and ultimately enable them to provide the best dining experience to their guests.

You will join a healthy and collaborative team, continuously improving our engineering practices, and delivering state-of-the-art technology, all while keeping it fun. Above all, your work will change the way the world experiences hospitality.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Working alongside some of the most brilliant minds in the industry, you will contribute to the product by building new features and creative workflows.
  • Design and create beautiful, elegant, and functional web applications.
  • Mentoring and training more junior members of your team, sharing your expertise 
  • Report to the Team Lead of Development and have frequent interactions with Product Managers, Product Designers, and Platform Teams.
  • Your daily tasks will be split between development of new features, supporting the existing functionality through bug fixes and improvements and supporting our QA and PM team with customer escalations.
  • Take part in daily agile ceremonies, brainstorm on innovative ideas that challenge the status quo, and implement solutions.
  • Act as an advocate for the highest code quality and ownership while contributing to the health of the code base.
  • Raise the bar and elevate your team by sharing knowledge and best practices while always seeking improvement and progress.

What you'll be bringing to the team: 

  • Strong knowledge of modern HTML and JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, CSS
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of developing web applications with the Svelte framework
  • Knowledge of React.js, Next.js, or similar technologies
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills in the context of Web applications
  • Solid understanding of Web application concerns 
    • Authentication, OAuth2, JWT
    • API design, REST, GraphQL
    • Performance optimizations
    • Security best practices, OWASP
  • Experience developing in a back-end for frontend layer 
  • Hands on experience with WebSockets
  • Familiarity with writing tests (e2e using Cypress) and ensuring the highest coding standards
  • Communication skills in English 

 

Even better if you have, but not necessary:

  • Experience writing Backend services
  • Familiarity with modern cloud infrastructures
  • A keen eye for UI/UX design
