So if you love sports and their community-building potential, or building cool products is your sport, GameChanger is the team for you. We are a remote-first, dynamic tech company based in New York City, and we are solving some of the biggest challenges in youth sports today.

The Position:

GameChanger's newly formed Foundation Team enables GameChanger engineers to deliver great products on a secure, stable, and scalable platform.  The foundation team has ownership of our AWS environment, CI/CD pipelines and deployment tooling, disaster recovery, and leads other projects to improve GameChanger’s developer efficiency as well as our cloud and security maturity. This empowered team will work collaboratively with other platform and software engineering teams and engineering leaders to gather feedback, review designs, and proactively improve the foundation that engineering builds upon.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior or Staff SRE to join this team of SRE, Cloud, and Security engineers.  As an SRE on the team, you’ll help drive and implement best practices for service delivery, cloud infrastructure, observability, scalability, and resiliency within our internal build/deploy systems, as well as in our infrastructure and application code.  This role will include a mix of platform and application-level development, and provides a unique opportunity to blend cloud infrastructure, software development, and operations expertise to impact the entire organization as we continue to grow our systems, teams, and processes.

What You'll Do:

  • Drive transparency of how systems are performing in production and provide actionable feedback and recommendations to other engineering teams. Establish SLOs/SLIs with feature development teams and implement code and infrastructure to support improvements in gathering, alerting, and reporting on those metrics easily
  • Architect, design, build, and maintain observability tools and frameworks for our codebases and infrastructure to enable quick detection and resolution of incidents
  • Build relationships with product and platform engineering teams to understand roadmaps and influence architectural decisions regarding scalability, resiliency, and observability
  • Implement changes in CI/CD pipelines to speed safe delivery and improve developer ergonomics of build, test, and deploy systems to allow engineers to quickly receive feedback on their changes
  • Build, maintain, operate, and improve the cloud infrastructure that runs our containerized and non-containerized workloads
  • Design and build infrastructure as code (IaC) components that drive the ability to rapidly deploy new infrastructure and software in the cloud environment
  • Collaborate with other DevOps/SRE/Security Engineers to implement projects in the DevOps space - E.g., integrating new tools, improving deployments, upgrading dependencies and infrastructure, improving our load test environment, improving scalability and resiliency of cloud-deployed applications.
  • Mentor and train other engineers on SRE, DevOps, cloud, and other topics via documentation, in one-on-one settings, and in larger group training sessions.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience to have developed software engineering fundamentals.
  • Experienced developing and optimizing software. We work with Python for most platform automation and TypeScript in application code, but you'll get a chance to learn them if your background is with different languages.
  • Experienced designing and implementing automation, deployment, and observability tools and frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of observability and performance metrics and how to apply them to monitoring and alerting
  • Experienced with modern cloud infrastructure services, concepts and tools, such as containerization, distributed systems, infrastructure as code (we use terraform), and serverless computing, preferably in AWS
  • Experienced working within DevOps, CI/CD, GitOps, and/or Agile methodologies, as well as experience hands-on with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools such as GitLab CI, Github Actions, Jenkins, etc.
  • A perpetual learner and teacher with experience mentoring across team boundaries in SRE and DevOps patterns and practices

Perks:

  • Work remotely or from our well-furnished, modern office in NYC’s FiDi.
  • Unlimited vacation policy.
  • Technology stipend - $4,000 every 2 years to purchase new technology.
  • Full health benefits - medical, dental, vision, prescription, FSA/HRA, etc., as well as coverage for family/dependents.
  • Life insurance - basic life, supplemental life, and dependent life.
  • Disability leave - short-term disability and long-term disability.
  • Retirement savings - 401K plan offered through Vanguard, with a company match.
  • Generous maternity/paternity leave.
