ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. The organization was founded in the aftermath of World War II to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn Europe. Since then, for 80 years, across 100 countries, World Relief has partnered with local churches and communities to build a world where families thrive and communities flourish.

Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.
 

POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Senior Advisor will be critical in supporting the President, CEO, and executive team in executing World Relief’s strategic priorities. This role focuses on ensuring progress in accomplishing the organizational strategy through effective monitoring, tracking, and reporting of key initiatives while helping to galvanize action across the organization. The Specialist will work closely with senior leaders to facilitate communication, ensure follow-up on strategic tasks, and support the organization’s Objectives and Key Results (OKR) framework.
 
This position requires high emotional intelligence, strong project management skills, and the ability to simplify complex information into actionable insights. While not directly managing initiatives, the Senior Advisor will provide guidance, ensure alignment with the overall strategy, and serve as a trusted partner to the executive team. With a focus on fostering collaboration and maintaining momentum, this person must be able to take the initiative, handle details with tenacity, and help drive progress toward achieving the organization’s mission.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and Track: Support the implementation of the organizational strategic plan by monitoring progress, tracking deliverables, and compiling reports that provide clarity on execution.
  • Cross-Organizational Collaboration: Occasionally lead ad-hoc cross-departmental working groups on specific projects. Act as a bridge builder, fostering synergy and collaboration across teams to achieve critical goals.
  • Analysis and Recommendations: Conduct analysis to produce insights and recommendations, providing reports and business case documents to assist leadership in making informed decisions.  Be able to clearly share related analysis through written reports, presentations or briefings.
  • OKR Management: Manage the OKR process across the organization, serving as the system administrator and ensuring proper tracking and reporting of progress. Advise leaders on effective OKR implementation in their respective departments.
  • Reporting: Prepare strategic reports and dashboards related to key initiatives in the CEO's office and at the executive committee level, ensuring clear communication of progress.  These reports will be reviewed by senior leaders, executives, and board members.
  • Internal Communications: Support the President & CEO in executing an internal communication strategy to reinforce mission, vision and values, and promote understanding of the organizational strategy through means including drafting written communications, preparing presentations.
  • Executive Leve Meeting Participation: Attend executive committee meetings as an observer, preparing materials as requested and ensuring clarity on follow-up actions.  Attend portions of World Relief board meetings and support the CEO in preparing materials for these meetings.
  • Representation: Represent the President & CEO at internal meetings as needed, primarily in an observational capacity.
  • Other Duties: Carry out additional duties at the discretion of the President & CEO.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
  • Ability to integrate personal faith in Jesus Christ into all aspects of professional life
  • Impeccable project management skills with attention to detail
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to develop trust-based relationships with colleagues to foster effective collaboration
  • Prior experience working with OKRs, with the ability to manage an organization-wide OKR process and tracking system
  • Competency in data visualization and analysis 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information into actionable reports
  • Strong multicultural skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and contexts
  • A high motivation to drive progress on key projects while being able to able to balance initiative and execution with humility and collaboration
  • Strong personal initiative with the ability to develop action plans and execute them with minimal supervision
  • Desire to grow and learn new skills while working in a high-performance environment engaged in mission-critical tasks 
  • Availability to travel 25-30 days per year. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Desire to see the church play a pivotal role in addressing the world’s greatest crises
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field.  Master's degrees are strongly preferred.   
  • 6-8 years of professional experience in roles with a strong project management focus.   
  • Prior experience working in a faith-based organization and/or non-profit setting. 
  • Aspirations for professional development, learning and growth while demonstrating a supportive approach in working with senior executives.
